Like I said earlier the kits are not road legal & can only be used on Track & thats why Yamah would ask people to sign the bond so that they are not held responsible if someone is found riding on streets with such kits on their bikes.

I am sure there will still be a lot of people having that extra moolah riding these bikes with kits on road. The traffic police are never going to find out whether the bike has been modified to an extent of racing on tracks.

Yamaha is just playing safe here by having the customer's sign the bond and I personally think its right on their side.

how're the insurance implications on these mods? does the insurance wash their hands off on these yamaha mod'd bikes? or can these be endorced in the coverage.

IMO the bike will be not covered under the general insurance after modification.

Bikes with these racing kits were on display in July. The salesman had quoted 60K for the R15 kit and 30K for the FZ16 kit.

Sorry for bumping up an oldy!

Just wanted to ask if even the Body & Muffler kits are street illegal?

Isn't that odd?

@ess- You need to check with the dealer on exact details. IIRC only the cosmetic parts are free to use. Performance parts come in a single package & not separately

@santhosh- From What I know these kits are specific to the bikes for which they have been launched & can not be fitted on other bikes & models.

Hey Techno,

From what I found out, there are 3 different kits: Body/Muffler/Engine.

The Yamaha dealer close to my place has no idea but promised to find out about it.

Hey techno thats what i said on starting the thread, every part from muffler to ECU upgrade can be bought separately.

And yes the official dealer of yamaha should have the kits, and if not should make it available.
