Dreamweaver build-off: HD Fatboy

Must admit I’m more of a bike junkie than a car freak. Have always been enamoured by Cruisers, choppers and wild bike designs. This is my modest attempt to realize my dream, build a Harley-Davidson FATBOY. Some parts were imported as stock and some were / are painstakingly fabricated and engineered in Bangalore. 70% of the parts are now ready and the build off started on 18th July 2009. I will take you through this realization journey of mine.

A picture of how the bike should look once done. Wish me luck!

A major part of this endeavour was to build the chassis from scratch. To do that we first build a frame jig. Took around a month to do that, now the jig's ready and the fabrication of the frame is in process.

Modelled th frame in pro-e, this is how it looks.

Seems like a very interesting project. All the best to you luky.

Dont mind me asking, are you building a Fat Boy? Or are you building something to look like a Fat Boy (like a Bullet to look like a Fat Boy)?

Thanks V12, building a Fatboy replica. I'm using a HD Vtwin TwinCam 88A motor 88 ci, a 5 speed manual tranny and a belt driven pulley.

WoW!!!
If I understood you correctly, you are building a HD FB clone.

Which motor/chassis are you planning to use?

or are you gonna restore an HD FB?

EDIT: My question has been answered already...

Had the same questions as V12, but now answered. I'm not very technical, but try to figure how things usually work. Good luck with the project Luky.

Wow. Nice to see such a build off project. Have a feeling that this is an one of a kind project. Keep us posted at every stage. Though am not the engineering types, would be wonderful to learn something from this.

Thanks guys, the frame welding is scheduled for the coming Sunday (in all probability) will keep you posted all through. Once the frame is in place, the build should pick up speed.

hmm. looks like a challening and interesting project. Best Wishes.

What is the kind of budget planned and is there any re-registrations to be done at RTO for this kind of mods.

Aah! Heaven calling. Yup, even me not too technical but love the idea of looking at a project like this take place. Since you are based in Bangalore, can me and my friends take a peek once in a while?

I have stopped accounting the expenses . Will never think about RTO registration etc, for me the very thought of having a harley parked in my driveway build by me from scratch is overwhelming. I don't mind if its not road worthy or registered.
