Any helpful info is appreciated, only looking for OEM part. Thanks.
Have you tried Fixwell Motors in JC Road Bangalore ? Usually they have stock of all parts

Re: Royal Enfield Queries

Having been hearing a Thud noise on bad roads and bumps so changed the fork oil but do no see much improvement. In fact, the oil now leaks from the upper seals. I remember telling this fork oil leakage problem to ASS two years back and they solved the problem. Recently came to know that they removed 50% oil from the forks and hence the leakage stopped. But maybe that ruined the shocks.
Can anyone advise what all needs to be changed to bring it back to life?
Subject is a 2002 Bullet Electra.
Also the Ampere meter light stopped working. Is there a bulb inside or the whole things needs to be replaced?

Maybe the coil springs inside have compressed due to age and not doing their job. That is not too expensive to replace and can be done after which the seals have to be replaced. I had got it replaced on my bike few years ago as I felt the front had become hard over bumps. Have written a post of that on my thread.

The ammeter has a tiny bulb at the bottom which can be replaced. This is still an old school bike. Don't have to replace the dial

Re: Royal Enfield Queries

The speedometer velocity has again stopped working though its showing the distance covered. The problem had first surfaced way back in Nov 2016 and ArizonaJim had tried extensively to help me out. In all these, the cabling, the lower mounting assembly at the wheel end have been replaced a few times as well (though I have not documented these in the section ). Currently, the reading is around 55100 and I have been advised that the only solution now is to get the unit replaced from the RE.

But I do not want to lose the count of kilometers covered. Is there any offical way to have the new meter reflect the current reading (so that it does not start from 0)? I do not want to go for the "arrangements" as depicted in multiple utube videos.

Look for dedicated speedo repair shops, they can wind the odo to show the kms you want. They will have to remove the speedometer again and do it by connecting it to a small motor.
Don't think there is any other way or quicker way to set the odo to reflect the figure you want.

Removed the Ammeter bulb and found it in working condition. Checked continuity with a multimeter and seems okay. Does anyone know how to check if power is coming to the socket with a multimeter?

Re: Royal Enfield Queries

I am facing rusting issue inside petrol tank of my electra 2009 model. I have ordered one anti rust liquid which will remove the rust from the tank. Now I want to seal the tank from inside after it becomes rust free. Has any used any kind of tank coating ,which will avoid further rusting of the tank. Thanks

Re: Royal Enfield Queries

Hey friends,

I have recently purchased a pre-owned Royal Enfield 350 electra (bs3 carb engine).

I am relatively newbie with bikes but due to this forum i am fastidious w.r.t. my cars.

I have a few queries; would love if you people can help me with it.

1. I have a electric start bike with 14ah battery. However my headlights flicker when the engine is on or when i depress the horn( fitted with relay)

2. Due to the habit of fuel injected cars i hve a habbit of starting my ride with only clutch depressed. (No accelerator). Due to the intial start at extremely low rpm when I depress the acc the engine misfires with loud thuds and engine dies out.
However, if I depress the acc and start my bike, it starts at half crank and proper firing.
I have replaced the spark plugs, engine oil , oil filter n air filter( all genuine RE parts incl. the Oil)

My roadside mechanic tells me that it is normal in carbureted engines to start with a little acceleration.

3. I have got the brake bleeding done for the front brakes however i feel the brakes are not spot on when in need.

4. I want to install aux lights for my bike as i am planning to do outstation rides , any suggestions on particular brands/ specifications? My need is purely performance oriented and not for any aesthetic need.

ALSO IF YOU PEOPLE CAN RECOMMEND A GOOD BULLET SPECIALIST IN MUMBAI-ANDHERI WEST VICINITY PLEASE🙏🏻

Thank you in anticipation and reagrds,

Mihir

Re: Royal Enfield Queries

I think this may maybe a dumb question. But I will nevertheless ask
I have a TBTS 350-2009. I bought it before they launched TB500.
Is it feasible technically and logically to replace 350cc engine with 500? Maybe the transmission can remain same? Was there a non-efi 500 in production?

Check if the battery is in good health. Headlamp flickering may also point to a loose connection in the headlamp dome.

True, engine has to warm up for it to idle. It may also improve with a new battery.

The old disc brakes on an Enfield were nothing to write home about. You need to get used to it. Replacing the pads if it is worn will improve the bite.

You may want to check some other motorcycle threads for aux lights.

Can't help you there.

I think the transmission was the same for both the bikes. It should be possible to swap the bore and head of the 500 to a 350 TB since the stroke remains the same. If it is the first gen UCE TB that you have, it may not be that easy since I guess there are differences when compared to the TB350/500 .
Since the frame is the same, it is actually a straightforward job and it was quite common with Cast Iron engines to swap in a 500 onto a 350 Bullet.

The earlier STD 500 UCE's were carb engines.

Re: Royal Enfield Queries

Good morning members!
How much should be the average life of front and rear brake pads (non ABS disc brakes) respectively, on UCE Royal Enfields ?
Regards!

Hello Mihir. I did a fair bit of research before installing my auxiliary lights. My requirements were simple, no wire cutting, a good wire harness, and a solid built light. Maddog lights ticked all boxes. They have a quality wire harness (Pro version), quality light switch (i have the normal one), and a purposeful aux light. I choose the Scout X model. They are just 20W each, with both spot and spread. For your reference, I have a Standard 500 2018. I just went to Nepal last month, and the lights performed flawlessly. Great throw, and reach. There are a lot of YouTube videos on these lights, you can check them out.

Hope this helps.

Re: Royal Enfield Queries

I bought a 10/2016 manufactured Classic 350 few days back. It has clocked 28300kms. My experience with Bullets are only with CI and that too decades back. Help needed with following queries:
  1. Which is the best oil for relatively silent engine? How is Shell Advance 4T Ultra 15W-50 semi synthetic oil?
  2. Does this bike at around 28300kms need engine flush before engine oil change? If yes, which flush.
  3. I hear tappet/valve noise when giving throttle. Does this need valve clearances adjusted?
  4. This Classic 350 is October 2016 manufactured. Is this BS4 or BS3 model? RC card has no details regarding this. I will need PUC card only once in a year, if I can update RTA about the bike being BS4.
  5. Good front tyre recommendations for city and occasional highway (narrow Kerala SH/NH highways!) rides.

Re: Royal Enfield Queries

I am looking for a Plastic / Fiber front mudguard, for temporary usage (3-4 months). Since these are aftermarket, can someone please advise the factors to consider before getting one? I have a 2013 Bullet 500. Also please advise on the price and fitting procedure.

Thank you.
