New Bajaj Pulsar 180 and 200 bikes

Picked up the news from here

New P200 and P180 variants out in Pune Pro Biking Showroom. - xBhp.com : The Global Indian Biking Community

Quote:
Yesterday eve, one of my friends just happend to go to the Pro Biking showroom on Bundgarden road to enquire about the ninja 250. But he was plesently surprised to see these new models of the p200 and p180 there. He was told that this new p200 had got 19ps now, and also has been factory fitted with 220 faring, bigger front forks and rear disc brakes. The second varient of the p200 had the same bikini faring as the existing bike but with the bigger 220 forks and rear disc brake. Thee p180 on the other hand has been given the look of the p200. Not much details about the p180's engine specs. But the ProB guy also told my friend that a new more powerful 220 is comming out shortly.
What are the poor flooks who just bought a new P180-200 now doing?

If this is true, then it is good news that Bajaj has refreshed their lineup. It was getting stale offlate. The only issue is that these new bikes should not have the same identity i.e. a person should not end up getting confused on whether the bike is a 180/200/220. They should be exclusive. Hope Bajaj has worked on that piece too.

Agree with you F1fan. All the 3 bikes should be distinct in their own ways. Look at the rear of all the 150-220 Pulsar's. Its very difficult to distinguish each of them. Bajaj should get out the exclusivity of the 200/220 in the below designs :

Tank shape
Rear tail-light and indicators
Alloy designs
Fairings
Paint job / color scheme

BTW, any pics of the new bikes?

The question is how long they will make you wait for one. Still a waiting period? Or do they have enough for everyone that wants to buy one?

Hi Guys,

This news are confirmed and are very much true. I had called up one of my source from Bajaj Pune and he has confirmed the story. These bikes are not yet released to masses and are out on testing purpose in pune. The final release would happen at the end of March or 1st week of April.

Pulsar 200 with P220 features.

I also asked him if there are any chances of an upgraded 220 to be released - and he said possibilities are too high that bajaj might pull out a surprise very soon. This could mean an upgraded engine with more power - and hope fully more reliability.

Please don't ask anything more about the source as I would not be able to disclose the same to you guys.

Regards,
Kailash

This is what bajaj needs, good 150cc and 150cc+ bikes. But rather than just the 200/220/180 being upgraded, the real upgrade is required by P150.
I expect a atleast one bhp jump across all models. May be they can take the 150cc to almost 100 bhp/ltr. I expect FI across the range to be common along with rear disc brake. Expect improvements in handling and finally they might have sorted out the chassis. The offering they have are a bit old and they required something new and fresh. I hope they manage to revive the entire range with different looks and features. The present pulsar's looks are doing duty since the original DTS-i came out. Very minor changes have come in then.

I think the pulsar lineup is too cluttered to appeal to the customer. They have 4 models to cover the market of 2 models.

Its a good move. 220 is kinda pricey for what it offers.

The P200 originally looked good IMO, It only needed good clipons, FI and rear disks. An Engine option of 220 would be even better.

And they should stop making that weird looking P220. Instead bring on the Ninja 250!! :-)

Now they have TWO weird looking bikes in their stable!

This is good news indeed. A 200 with FI and rear disk sounds appealing. Just hope they dont stick the 220 fairing on to it. The existing 200 looks good as it is. Wish they would also change the colour of the instrument console. The orange colour is too gaudy. Something like the R15's or RTR FI's blue colour console will look awesome and will do wonders to freshen up the look of the series.

Rip-off a yammie FZ

The pic on the original link looks like a photoshop work.. Even if it were indeed a geniune pic, Bajaj still sucks... looks like they've ripped off Yammie's "NAKED LOOK" FZ concept.... Bajaj's better off making "Hamara Bajaj" scooters for balding losers with 50 kids

I think it is very unfair of you to make that statement. Don't forget that you will probably lose hair and have kids too one day.

Guys,

Sincere apologies if I have offended anyone here. I was a big "FAN" of the pulsar line up, until they started going the Microsoft way, coming up with umpteen versions of their products , mostly cosmetic, with puny 20 Cc upgrades and hence lost their edge on the market. Lately BAL has started getting on my nerves, what with all the hoopla they created over the Ninja 250, and now this? Seems like BAL is going nowhere. IMAO they're just another <hindi proverb> "Kolhu ka bail" going round and round the same path.

The fact that they came up with this after Yammie's FZ release shows how arrogant BAL had become, and it took Yam to finally wake'em up.

P.S I'd rather die with all my hair intact than live till 50, BALD
