Re: All T-BHP Royal Enfield Owners- Your Bike Pics here Please

Congrats Jeroen. What a beauty at your door step. The color scheme between metal and leather seat(matching the golden line around the white on tank) is awsome. Best luck and have a safe and joyful ride.

Nice to see one more AVL owner.

How many kms you have covered?

In 2nd pic tappet cover is not of AVL engines, how decompressor is working?

Which engine oil you are using?

Should be close to 80K kms. The trip knob in the speedo which came with the bike was broken by someone in some parking lot around 4 or 5 yrs ago. So I was virtually driving without the trip meter for a long time. Around a year back my mechanic said he has another original TB speedo from a bike which came for modification and paid the owner 600bucks and replaced it.

The decomp spring and the tappet door itself gone kaput a couple of years ago. It was very tough sourcing the tappet door. So got an old one and got it powder coated and now the decomp mechanism is fixed right behind the spark plug location(not visible from the above photo) on the head. It cost me around 1500bucks. But works like a charm.

I usually use Elf 20-50 or Mobil 20-50

It is sad to know that getting AVL parts are trouble in Chenni also and you have paid 1500 bucks for work against this 200 buks part.

Myself is in searching for rocker oil pipe banjo bolt (part no 500631/A) and mechanics are asking RS 300 to make the banjo bolt by die.

Is it the single shot 80K Kms running or rebore done once?

What is the interval (in kms) of changing the timing gear set?

This should be 20w 40.
The 1500 Bucks was including labour for the tappet door powder coat & replacing a rod in the timing unit right below the tappet valve. I exactly donot remember the name of the part as it was quite a while back. It was during that issue when my mech suggested the change of location for decomp.

For your second query, Yes its a single shot. The engine has not been touched yet.

And about the oil, yes the prescribed oil is 20-40, but since I cover 80kms/day and also Chennai being hot for almost 9months a year, the 20-40 actually becomes too thin. So using 20-50 for more than 4yrs now.

The picture talks for itself. The backdrop is Bidar Fort and a bright sunny day with my Classic Chrome 2011 (the first few at Hyderabad).

Congratulations for being a Lightning owner.

Thanks for sharing the photograph. You didn’t shared earlier but Yes you talked about the work one year ago (http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/motorb...ml#post2718879).

Now my default questions what I put in front of every AVL & Lightning (350 & 535) owner:
1. Do you have Owner’s manual safe with you?
2. How many kms the beauty covered (without rebore)?
3. Which engine oil you are using (now days I am in a big Dilemma for this)?
