Short update

5 Years 3 months. Still enjoy every bit of the cafe in its various avatars.

Returns an average of around 30-33 kmpl.

A little rust at the bottom of the air box, probably because water gets collected there. The rear indicator rubber got worn out because whenever a pillion gets off the bike, his/her leg may touch the indicator and cause it to weaken. Will have to get new ones.

Because of the last monsoon, the front mudguard has a bit of rust on it. Planning to rechrome it, or paint it black.

Also planning to get the cafe to stock for this years monsoons.

Any suggestions?!

Check out this link. The different avatars of the bike: http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/974920-post33.html. The second pic is the way the bike is at the moment. My personal favorite is the last one, cafe seat with upswept Goldstar exhaust.

Congratulations. You had booked it long back? Because its stopped production, right?

TBTS mounting points are completely different as those of the Machismo. But you can install the brackets onto the Machismo with some modifications.

The pic "Cafe shoot 2009 Grey Ecr" is my fav and its total drool maal , wallpaper material.

But my heart has been stolen by this beauty

Thanks Gordon. Really liked your cafe rider modification and went through your thread fully!! Nice job but on the other hand, probably, never-ending!! Actually I did not book it early. I went to buy a CL 500 but the wait period was for 6 months. So i asked if Machismo 500 was available and luckily they had a last model of that AVL machine. I checked it. It is made in February this year. I had to wait for 8 days to get the delivery of the vehicle.

there are lots of memories with this bike.
  • purchased from meerut for cost of Rs. 7,000 in 1976
  • sold in delhi at a profit in 1996 for Rs. 11,000 after completing 1,50,000 odd kms.
  • oil leaks and peculiar starting problems part of standard equipment.
  • dad used to live in dehradun in early 70s-mid 80s before I was born and he did lots of journeys across UP, UK (uttarakhand) and Rajasthan when he used to work for the FMCG company.

Though it is not justified (as the bike sold long ago) but I am not able to stop myself, did the bullet completed this 150000 (one lakh fifty thousand) kms without any engine overhaul in one life?

Beautiful bullet flot.
What is the make of ally wheels? AFAIK this design is available for bullet (19" wheel) only.
