i had thought of buying it here and shipping it back to India, since this model in not available in india! but the actual bike changed my mind, i would rather buy a LB500!

im 6"2 tall, the bike looks kinda small for me!

Hehe! I doubt an RE can be too small for anyone.

I do however, find the rear wheel too small. I guess it is because it is in the air. Have to see this one in the flesh!

I am also 6"2 tall. I was eagerly waiting for the Classic launch after seeing the photos on the RE website. I am interested in getting a 500cc torque monster with EFI and UCE.

LB500 is perfect for my height and looks great. But I would miss the refinement and efficienty of EFI if Classic is going to get it. Also, the lavish usage of chrome would be difficult to maintain. Today I saw a badly maintained LB500 with rusted chrome and it looked very bad.

In my opinion, the classic looks dorky, especially the rear. I had high hopes like everyone else for the classic, I hope RE does something about it before final launch. It might not be so obvious in black though. I hesitate to write-off without actually experiencing the bike, but RE should seriously consider putting that engine in a standard bullet chassis without all that bling. It might appeal to a lot of people like me who are rooted in the old school.

Meanwhile, my wait is definitely over, I am going to focus my efforts for a used CI500 - my personal favorite for its simple elegance.

If anything, the best part about the Classic EFI imho is the engine. It churns out 21RWHP, as measured on the dyno. That is almost 4HP more than the AVL500. Now, changing the exhaust to a free-er flowing one would liberate a couple more ponies. To top it all off, apparently the US distributor is in talks with power commander for an ECU remap.

Cheers,

Jay

I dont see the ammeter in the classic. So what does the guage in its place do? Has RE finally provided a fuel guage in the classic?

I dont like the rear wheels too. Me thinks RE looks grand on its 19" wheels!

Is the UCE bullet 500 coming only in the Classic body or any others like Std, electra, TB etc?

yeah , they have given a fuel light, that goes on when the bike is low on fuel, the other light is for the engine as in Cars, it goes on when the engine oil is low.

Thanks Shan2129. So enfield finally got something as close as it can to a fuel guage. Though I am not sure how it works, like anyways we have the reserve in bikes, so if fuel is low we can switch to reserve and ride for some distance!

Its going to be interesting to see if enfield is going to keep the AVL range. Because only the AVL machines are in the sub 1 lac range (except the 500 cc machismo and to be phased out CIs). The UCE TB is over a lac and the classic 350 and 500 are priced between 1.5 and 2 lacs. Classic is gonna be way out of my budget at the moment

Any news on when the UCEs hit the rest of the stable?

I am thinking of buying an RE, just waiting for the engine overhauls.

I got a mail from RE saying -

Quote:
We will be launching the Classic 500 in India on 4th November 2009.

We will be communicating the price on the launch date.

Generally all dealers accept a booking amount of Rs. 10,000/- and collect the balance amount once the vehicle is ready. Delivery of the vehicle depends on the production plan. It may vary from 4 to 12 weeks depending on the location.

Comparison of the Domestic Classic 500 EFI with the Export Classic 500 EFI:

Differences are basically related to motorcycle regulations in force in different countries. Further, the exhaust emission norms vary between India, Europe and U.S.A. In view of the emission regulation, construction of silencer and other sensors have been modified to meet the emission norms.
How did u come to know about the price and as per the mail it should be 500EFi

That is some nice info.

It looks like a nice price for the EFI. Something of a steal, I guess!
