Dear all,
I got myself this bike after following up for nearly 15 years (long story, will save for the restoration thread). Not sure of the variant, but I am sure that it has to restored back to glory.
Getting hold of paper is in progress but seems like an uphill task (anyone knows what years would BR31A series? (Hajipur RTO Bihar)

Now my first task is to get hold of all possible parts, would like to buy new everything that is available including engine (bore, cylinder, anything else?); chassis, petrol tank, side panels. My preference between 100/135/5 speed/RXKing is whatever is available as a brand new engine.
I have no experience of restoring two wheelers
Request fellow members to guide me in sourcing genuine parts.
Vehicle is currently in Bihar and I can get it restored either in Patna or Jamshedpur.

Request fellow members for guidance.

Thanks in advance
Vikram

Your bike looks fantastic. Need an information. Can you share the mechanic / workshop details of where you get it serviced in Bangalore?

Re: The Yamaha 'RX' Thread (with pics)

Lovely thread. Brought back memories of my RX100. This was from the last batch before the RXG come. It have 12V electricals and RX125 tank graphics. Got it restored and painted in the factory blue. Today I regret selling it but at that time it was a practical decision. Replaced it with an Active which I used for 23 years before selling it last year.

The bikes in the thread fall in 4 broad categories:
- Bone Stock (maintained or restored).
- Almost stock with practical and tasteful mods (disk brake, tachometer etc).
- Moderately maintained.
- Outright hideous (no offence meant to the respective owners).

No prizes for guessing which I like. Also those are the 2 categories whose bikes are worth the most today (even if you are not selling).

If I still had my RX today, I would have restored it again in exactly the same way I did first time but added a disk brake and a tachometer. Nothing else.

Performance mods on a RX don't really make sense these days. You buy a RX for people to see you riding and for you to feel good riding one of the greatest bikes in India.

2 of the mods I hate the most are the Yezdi headlamp and the Yezdi rear wheel.

These days a decent RX is out of reach for the common man. To get around this some people have modified the TVS MAX100 into a RX100 lookalike. It even sounds like one. Quite a decent mod I would say at the expense of hurting the RX purists.

Since its quite a task getting a RX these days I came with this crazy idea (actually 2 ideas). Not sure it it is feasible or not:
1. Get a Gladiator or SZ and swap the engine with a RX King or similar engine from Indonesia.
2. Get a Gladiator or SZ or any other bike and put a R15 engine.

I have no clue if this is possible or how much it will cost. I did see a reel of a RX135 with a R15 engine mounted on it.

Thank you very much. The bike was restored in Mangalore and is currently in Mangalore. I had a trusted mechanic here in Bangalore but have not visited him for a long time now. I will need to check on him and will share the details accordingly.
