Hi Friends, I'm a Proud n Die Hard RX 135 (5-Speed) owner since Jan 2001. I'm looking for a reliable rx specialist mechanic in Bangalore. Since the past one year, my bike leaks petrol and no local mechanic is able to find the fault. So it's kind of SOS help needed.

Just head to Harish Garage. Basavangudi, look for SouthThindies, right next to that is the 'Cross' - Take left, first right gully. He is RX specialist for 40 years.

Thanks for the prompt reply buddy. I try to take care of the bike by using premium lubes and products. And, am proud to say that my bike is 100% stock since 25 Jun 2001 when I purchased it for 52k (in those days it was big money). The 5 speed is a slightly different machine than the 135 four speed one. Is he trustworthy?

I stay in CV Raman Nagar , so that would be slightly far,, though will try to go there bunking office. Any number available? Tried searching on Google.

No, he doesn't like publicity. Very private guy. Just takes a bike and works on it. Ex-'Team TVS Racing' guy. See if you can go there and talk to him

Isn't he one of those guys who used to work on Shoguns and Shaolins as well? I might be confusing him with someone else but it's worth asking.

You're bang on the buck! Those were his main stay bikes, but I have seen him resurrect Yamahas to perfection. He takes a long, long time though.

Can you please recommend a good rear and front tyre for my Rx135 5 speed? The current ones have tread but very hard (I last replaced it in 2008) :)

More inclined to Michelin/Pirelli

Phoren brand addiction is one thing, but make sure you do not keep commonsense aside.

Good number of Pirelli's available today have a MFG date of over half a decade ago.

As for budget Michelin 's they're made by TVS and suck hard when it comes to wet grip.

So for your own safety I'd advice you do thorough research before proceeding.

So, can you please recommend a good front/rear combo?

Ceat Secura Zoom (F&R; tubeless) are good option for city rides. They are medium compound and do wet grip better than the Michelin City tyres in that range. Then there's Apollo Actizip and Actigrip which my cousin's RX135 has. Best medium compound grip I've seen, even with a front disc setup.

Dear sir, can you please share more details of your rx 100's front disc brake set up? I guess it looks like an avenger hub and a P220 disc rotor, but i'm not sure which fork legs these are. Are they fom a pulsar 220? I would like to use the same set up for my honda dazzler rally/tracker resto-mod.

My Rx 135 1997 model.

My love affair with Yamaha started with my first RX100 Cherry Red in 1993 when I was in 11th grade. It was very rare to have a RX100 in school at the time some how I managed to convince my dad he needs to buy me one clap:

I used it thru school and college until 1998 when I left for USA. The bike is still there in our village in Gujarat. In 5 years or so I used it I loved it and I had customized very tastefully. I still to date think I had done a fantastic job and way ahead of its time. I will have to dig up some old pics if I can. Bike was very well known in Vadodara in those days.
Since I have owned Yamaha R6 , Yamaha Kodiak 700 and Yamaha Grizzly XT-R. That RX100 made Yamaha lot of profit
