I have tried 20w40 mineral, 10w40 SS and 15w50 FS. It's gearbox oil and there is no harm in using them. Least, I have not faced any issues using these for past few years.

If you are happy using Yamalube 20w40, kindly stick to it.

Hey there fellow motor heads!! 4 months since I was accepted as a member(or half way there rather) of Team BHP and this is THE thread that took the cake!! its not just the comments that got me, its the passion behind them. Obviously loved quite a few other threads too but then i just liked going through them. I could not have picked a better thread to post my first comment. So here goes..
I own a black RX 135 2002 Model, purchased spanking new and she still has my heart racing every time I ride her. Took delivery on valentines day in 2002 at the cost of bunking lunch (oh what a crime that was)with my then girlfriend (totally worth it!!).
Engine and gear box stock, front disc set up (old gen pulsar), rear tyres 3.25/16 with bullet spokes, front 3.00/18. The only other mods on her would be the shogun handle bars and indi's and yeah the pulsar front fender (been dying to replace these with the stock rx 135's, parts currently available are of inferior chrome quality). Will post pics when i get a chance. ciao

Can someone tell me a good mechanic in Bangalore for my 03 RX 135 servicing please. I've been through many people/centers (including Yamaha's) and I'm not quite satisfied, I tried searching various threads and all are pretty old, so any quick references are very well appreciated

Dont want OEM chrome,i would prefer something in black.
What options do i have for front and rear mudguards?

Akshay, will the Libero front mudguard and Crux rear mudguard work?

When I bought my RX second hand, it had a black colored front mudguard which I assume belonged to Libero.

Though yamaha rx series are not well know for their mileage, today myself and a friend were having an discussion on the mileage of rx 135 5 speed and rx 135 4 speed. I always believed/assumed that 5 speed 135 gives more mileage than the 4 speed, but according to my friend it is the opposite and he said that the 4 speed gives more mileage. Is that really true? And if yes then how much is the approx difference in figures. Experts and owners please throw some light on this.

Guyz, im looking to restore my RX100 '92 model to its former glory. Not that its in a bad condition now, but i'm thinking about taking up major painting work right from the frame to the body panels. Any suggestions for a reputed/trustworthy mechanic in and around Chennai (Adyar, Besant nagar, Tiruvanmiyur to be more specific) will help.

A well maintained stock condition RX-135/RXZ 4-speed would give around 40-45 kmpl on highway if you maintain around 60-70 km/hr.

A well maintained stock condition RX-135/RXZ 5-speed would give around 35-40 kmpl on highway if you maintain around 60-70 km/hr.

This is due to the extra 2 bhps squeezed out of the same engine block in the 5-speed versions.

my 98 model RX135 is nearing restore Big thanks to team bhp for inspiring me for restore. Mechanic is asking for tyres. went through the thread and got more confused. Which is the tyre to use with decent grip?(other than MRF) Kindly help.

i dont mind paying little extra for a Yoko/Micheline or Pirelli. .

recshenoy, you can try Dunlop Zebra 2.75 X 18 at the front and Michelin M45 3.00 X 18 at the rear.

Or you can try Michelin M62 2.75 X 18 at front & M45 at the rear.

Though everyone say Michelins offer great grip, I don't agree fully to it. But they are the best available in Indian market. Though I agree with ride comfort.

I prefer Dunlop over MRF/Ceat/TVS. This is just my personal opinion.
