100/90 on rear wheel? I'm not sure what works, regarding disc brakes, you can go for Gladiator's front end which are direct fit. Basically, when you're going for disc setup, you need to ensure the fork is matching the front suspension, the front suspension's right or left bottom has fitting to fix the caliper set, the front wheel hub should be able to fit to 18 inch wheel with spoke or go for 18 inch alloy wheel setup, which I personally don't like.

Go for Gladiator's setup, it will succeed & most importantly, no juggad required :)

I am looking for a neat matt black straight 6 spoke alloys similar to Pulsar's and go in for 100/90x18" which comes on HH CBZ.

Talking about Jugaad, I am done with it! This "jugaad" business would give you good looks at the cost of ride comfort and stability :Frustrati.
Did you notice the Angle difference of the rear Shox in the picture ?? It give you a better ride height and better travel for the Shox.. Am getting rid of it for good!!:)

Yes, they're straight fix, but remember you might land up trouble finding OE parts.

CBZ is fine, but remember Pulsar, Apache, Ninja's are 17" wheels compared to Rx's stock 18 inch. So the fixes will include some juggad. You can probably give a try with HH, Unicorn, Shine. Gladiator as they're still 18"; exception Dazzler which is 17". Anyway, my taste is not alloy as I told before.

You paid 6.5K for a bike in ^^ condition? Were is the fuel tank, seat? Does it start? Which model is it?

The Motorcycle has a tank, but no seat panels, I have basically paid for a clean paper Motorcycle and chassis(accident free).

The Motorcycle hasn't been started and I am not sure, whether it has a piston. A complete job will be done(engine & cosmetic).

Sheel @ you have some work there. Eeverything from the electricals to the .. where is the headlight.. needs to be replaced. That is a total scrap. How is the engine, bore, etc. Any idea.

@Sheel - If the gearbox, carbs (including jets), crankshaft & cylinder are in good condition, its more than worth the price you've bought it for. BTW, hope its a 12V.

Yes, it requires more than lot of work to be done here. My guestimate to restore to perfection would be 20K+ for a basic rebuild. But to restore to perfection, sky's the limit :D

What're you plans on rebuild? Stock or powered? If powered, what stage? I mean, what's your idea on the rebuild?

I am not expecting much & the Motorcycle was parked in a garage, so whoever so wished preyed away with one thing or the other.

A complete job will be done & it shall take its own sweet time. The Motorcycle shall be all stock(engine wise) & cosmetically I will see post a discussion with fellow bhpians as to what would aesthetically be more appealing.

I too am thinking of a budget of ~20K & as I am not in a hurry, so no compromises shall be done for restoration.

The bike is in good condition for a bike that was in a garage. The carb and silencer is one of the first things to be plucked away. Why dont you start a new thread. Have you found a good mechanic.

@Sheel, do not take the budget & time lightly; Like you said, putting aside 3.5K to 5K every month will help as this is not your regular ride. First list down the set of parts that you need to change in the order of must, important & nice. Some of the parts will be difficult to procure even in nice, but easy on important. Worst scenario will be difficult on must parts which requires patience. Let me know if you need any help.

I think I shall have to change the silencer, too many dings and these is nothing much inside the carburettor.

I won't start a new thread as it will be updated very few & far in between, shall keep updating here with pics from time to time.

I have found the best mechanic I could and he is a RX specialist.

Yup, I shall be working first on engines and with the help of fellow riding mates & on-line transfers, spares might not be that of a problem.

RX135 Restoration!

so I got this 135 in working condition (owner was using for a 35 km daily commute) for a decent cost with the plan to restore it's glory.
Credit to siddharthp for his RX100 restoration which prompted this activity.
Bike is originally Maroon/Red in color but have decided to paint it Silver with Blue lining on the tank/side panels.

Sometime in May 2010 : bike purchase
Sometime in June 2010 : Spare parts/Replacement parts purchased.
18 Aug 2010 : Bike was given to the mechanic for strip down
21 Aug 2010 : Chassis and other parts given for painting. Chrome parts for electroplating same day as well.
29 Aug 2010 : Collected the electroplated parts. The guy recommended collecting it since this shop has acidic fumes which will corrode these parts.

The painter has promised delivery later part of this week. I hope to collect it before Saturday and transport to the mechanic. If things work out, might insist the mechanic to build it up on saturday as a dedicated job and spend time at his garage to see him working on this.

Require few suggestions
1. New 12 V battery - What is the recommendation?
2. 2 T oil - On purchase, it had Castrol. I changed it to Shell 2T which gave a noticeable change in engine characteristics. Any recommendations?
3. Lighting - Plan to change main headlamp bulb. Which one now?
4. Tires - Stock size/upsize ? Brand?

Unfortunately, no 'before photos'. Can't wait to see this baby get a facelift :)
