Here is mine- 87 model. I bought it used. Seems like it has original Jap parts. Suggestions please. Will post more pics.

I got a 5-speed RX-Z in August 2002, just before it went out of production. Done ~ 75000 km without any major problems. I did damage my headlight cowl in one of the crashes and haven't been able to replace it.
Original color Blue
Period of ownership: August 2002 - to date
Mods: Non- cat-con Exhaust, bigger rear tire and the ratio corrected at the sprocket, Softer rear shox springs

I have been literally chased on road by prospective buyers - both for cash and for trading their bikes (Pulser 220, Karizma) but I don't think I can ever part with it. Someday I will convert it to a complete dirt bike... till then riding along happliy!

That is great, but where are the photos. longing to see it.

The headlights are changed for some reason I guess; looks to me that they aren't OE. Lock sets have been changed for sure. Being a 87 model, speedo is also being changed I guess.

Hey aargee- true, the headlights are not OE and lock sets are not original. But the speedo console seems to be original. I took it to a person today who has plenty of experience working on Yamahas. Apart from this, i was told the crank case was changed. All other including the silencer, carbs etc are original. I am not sure- as i am trying to figure out the mechanical side of bikes.stupid:
here is the pic of the carbs: they are mikunis . below is the pic of the crank case. There is no 'made in Japan' written anywhere, so the mechanic said it was changed
I shall upload more pics soon; stuck with the photos in my friends phone.

one more attachment of my Rx100

Guys, Which rear suspension should I go with for my RX-135? I'm keeping the stock swing-arm. I need to buy it tomorrow.

I would suggest to go either Discover 135 old (S&S) shox or Pulsar old model.

They both are good.

I have my RX fitted with old model Discover shox. It's suspension is much better than the stock RX.

This is what was suggested to me by Aargee and I have seen many RX in Chennai fixed with Discover shox.

It is priced around 1k for a pair.

Thanks. I'll look for those today. Hows the ride and handling with them, especially while cornering?

Hello All

I own a 94 model RX-100. I am in the process of taking her to the workshop to get her ready for the FC to be done. My bike is stock except for the 16" rims that i use. Recently the headlight switch assembly got conked off and i am unable to get the original rx-100 assembly. I am travelling to Singapore in a few days and i wanted to check with fellow bhpian's if i hold a chance to get the original one from Singapore.

You can try getting the one for the YBX. That's what I'm using. The 100 wasn't launched in Singapore if I remember corretly.

Decided to go with the type 1 Pulsar shocks.

Hi guys, my RX100 refused to move (after starting and engaging gear) today morning despite several attempts. The bike was running absolutely fine till yesterday when I parked it. It rained last night, my bike was parked in an uncovered parking, needless to say it got wet in the rain. Although it starts in one crank it refuses to move (dies off when i engage 1st gear and release). Any pointers on what is the probable cause of this?

I did the following-
1. Checked spark plug, and cables- All are fine, there is a healthy spark.
2. Drained fuel and added fresh petrol- Still problem exists.
3. Clutch seems to be working fine.
4. Battery is in charged condition.

However, i have observed that white/blue smoke has increased slightly. Please help me troubleshoot the cause.

Spike

Mods- i thought it is unnecessary to create a new thread for this small query of mine, hence posted in this thread, please move to appropriate thread if required.

You might want to try Minda switch assembly around. I'm sure you can get it.

Errr...what I meant was the speedo was changed from original 87 model to some newer OE model. The older ones had Escorts etched, while the newer ones have Yamaha & the same holds good for the casing too.

Water in carbs or tank or exhaust assy?
If you're able to move the motorcycle after engaging gears & then, if the engine dies when the motorcycle moves, then it could be due to air block entering into the fuel tank.
