Not really unsafe because traffic around the signal is at full stop or dead slow.

Makes sense, as it should to the gendarmes for whom we are actually helping 'pack' more traffic into a given square foot, thereby making it slightly more efficient if not actually safer.
But people do crazy things. I take a right off the airport road heading onto Wind Tunnel Road. People on my left- often packed 3 vehicles deep- also in-my-very-bulging-lane, turn right BUT also take a U-turn right in front of my snout- effectively overtaking me on the left and cutting across my line. Drives me bananas.
