Makes sense for the front tyre, but why does the Rear need to be a 10 incher ? Isn't that more of a cost cutting decision rather than a design decision to improve handling/performance of the scooter ?

I have no idea of cost cutting or the reason behind those 10 inch tyres. But from an engineers point of view, it has been like that from when these scooters came into existence. The rear tyre has been a small one. From the design aspect, it can be observed that the transaxle is compact, and also simple. The CVT is located to the left side of the scooter, and the end of the transmission directly reaches the tyre, whereas a bike will have a long chain running from the transmission to the rear axle. Hence, due to this compact nature, you can observe that the rear wheel is close to the engine crankcase. Try to but a bigger tyre in that space and it wont fit, or will rub the crankcase and the surrounding parts, right till the rear mudguard.

Hence, from an engineering point of view, a bigger dia tyre will mean more space, which will mean stretching the transmission case, OR using another chain to drive the tyre. This just increases complexity, cost, and will need more maintenance like periodic tightening. So all this is done keeping simplicity in mind.

Re: The Gearless Scooter Thread

I am planning to buy a gearless scooter for my dad. I have shortlisted Wego as it fits my dad's requirements. He is 5'1 and I think the height of Wego is comfortable for him. He took a test ride and liked it. OTR of Wego in Pune is 60K. I am looking to buy the Cappuccino Brown color.

My question is, how are the service centers in Pune. Is TVS service reliable?

Took delivery of Scooty Zest today - on road price came to 55900. The dealer threw in a seat cover, floor mat and handle grips free.
Initial impressions:
-Compact in size but good power delivery. Very easy to manure in traffic.
-Good suspension.
-Cute looking mirrors, but that is the only good thing which can be said about it. They are totally useless. Huge blindspots.

Will put up a separate thread with pics and detailed impressions.

Congrats Anoop!! Wish you many happy miles with it. Which color did you opt for? Black is the most neutral which will allow us gents to also take it for short spins around the block.

Guys,

Sorry for this noob question, but did you guys get the factory test report of the scooters? And also any WA/WB report with it? I was told that the reports would be given to me during my Activa purchase but even after 6 month follow up could not get it. Lost the hopes of getting one later.

That's a news for me.
I never heard / got any such reports along with any of our vehicles. Can you please share what kind of reports are they?

Never heard of a factory report, did not get one (unless it's hidden inside the owner's manual). I will check with the sales associate soon.
Is this like a standard document that now comes with all 2 wheelers ? Wondering how this will be useful ?

EDIT: Ditto for the WA/WB report, as well. What is that ?

No, I did not. In fact, this is the first time I am hearing about these two documents.

Guys,

Please don't be alarmed. I posted the question since I remembered the same from my purchasing days. Even I don't know if such documents exists coz I dont have anything on hand but during my interaction with Honda SA during delivery I had popped the question (based on my 4 wheeler buying experience) for which I got the response that I mentioned.

No harm in asking the dealer the same.

Sorry Mr Boss forget to add your post.

Re: The Gearless Scooter Thread

Does any one know about the average waiting time for a TVS Wego? If i order one today / tomorrow, how long will it take to complete the paper work / registration to get over and to delivered?

@govigov

You should get the Wego in 2 weeks max if not for the disc brake version which will take more than a month. The tax and insurance papers will be handed over to you while the RC Card will be mailed to you in 90 days.

Re: The Gearless Scooter Thread

TVS Wego tops JD Power's 2015 Initial Quality Study - See more at: http://www.autocarpro.in/news-nation....xVdIUPP5.dpuf

Interesting to see TVS not only matching Honda's in terms of quality, now it seems like its winning customers heart as well.
