Re: The Gearless Scooter Thread

guys stay away from flyte and rodeo. If you must, only look at duro;i have its earlier avtaar ,the nova 135 and am quite pleased with it overall in 7 years of ownership

i agree with john about present day Hondas' poor quality-all hype and nothing else

btw how do chennai tbhpians rate service of tvs maruthi motors at west mambalam?

Re: The Gearless Scooter Thread

While i admit Honda is charging a premium and the the long waiting period is definitely not justified i have faced "zilch" issues with my 2009 Activa. Not one thing replaced, not one thing changed. It just scoots on without the slightest hitch. From the switch gear to the engine everything has been faultless and that speaks about Honda quality.

Thats a fantastic average ravan. I am also getting around 48 - 50 on my Wego. But, mine is full tank to full tank method. Whats the device you have to monitor the mileage. Thanks in advance

Those are good figures! Excellent mileage in the last fillup. I get an average mileage of about 41.5 kmpl running through thick Bangalore traffic.

My ride manages to take me to college and back(14+14=28K-m) for 50 Rupees(0.67 liter of fuel).
The Fuel efficiency is approximately 41.8 Km/L.
Riding conditions:10 Km of moderate traffic and 4 Km of Highway(NH209) riding and accompanied by a pillion;total weight carried by my vehicle is around 180Kg.
Average speed-30ish Km/H,Max speed-60 Km/H

Yes.
I know that my method(of calculating fuel efficiency) may be wrong but I think that the fuel efficiency hovers over 35Km/L mark.

Re: The Gearless Scooter Thread

The side stand spring of my Honda Activa gave away a couple of days back. The loose nut bolt holding the side stand, I guess was the culprit. Got the spring changed at honda workshop, costed me Rs 20/- but the new spring installed as replacement looked puny infront of the original spring. When I confronted the SA he said that this was an alternative for the original spring which was not available in stock. I was promised the original spring replacement during my next visit. I am not at all confident of the new spring, looks like it will give away in short time. Had a look around but found many Activas sporting this new spring for the side stand. Have written about the spring to the dealer, waiting for the response.

Re: The Gearless Scooter Thread

My TVS wego gave approx 41 kmpl on the last 2 fills. Pretty good, since it has run only 1100 kms in 9 months. I have issues of cold start in the mornings. The electric ignition does not startup or seems inadequate to power the engine. Pulling the choke is of not much help either. I am thinking of using the kick start to see if it changes things. Had showed this to the service center during last service, but they said it has been repaired.
But the bike is giving good performance so far. It feels adequately powered and easy to control in stop-go situations in bangalore traffic. I would definitely recommend it. And seeing the number of Wego's on the roads in the past months, it is definitely a very popular alternative to Activa which has 8 months of waiting(Not worth it IMHO)

It is never a good idea to start the scoot with the electric start on cold mornings. I always kick start it and it has never failed to start on the first kick. The rest of the day, I only use the thumb-start and it works all the time.

Hi hrman, I also second prajwal on this. Never start the scooter with electric start in the morning. Always kick start it. Also, use choke option once a week even during summers. Check, whether the choke lever is jammed, I faced this problem with my Wego when the choke lever got jammed in the rainy season.

Hi prajwal, In my wego, I was using kick start option in the morning for the first five - six months, but nowadays I am using only electric start even for mornings, I haven't faced any problems so far. My Wego comes to life immediately after the electric start. I am have not faced any problems even on cold mornings. Only once it did not come to life with electric start in the morning but, I was able to start it with kick start option.

How exactly do you gentlemen use the tankful to tankful method for calculating the mileage in your Wego? I mean, do you fill petrol till auto cut-off, or till any particular point in the fuel tank?

@_raVan_ - Those are phenomenal mileage figures that you've posted, specially considering Pune traffic The mileage that my Wego returns usually hovers between 45-50 kmpl. Could you share your driving style/best practices with us?

Cheers,
Vikram

Re: The Gearless Scooter Thread

Guys who are owning flyte/rodeo/duro , can you please tell what mileage you are getting considering 100% city driving.

My Flyte is giving 32 kmpl with 100% city. I have tried everything in carb tuning possible to extract more but in vain.

Suggestions

Hi Vikram,
I calculated my fuel efficiency when I fill petrol till auto cut-off. I think if you are using Wego under 50 kmph, you must achieve good fuel efficiency. If we don't strain Wego, getting 55kmpl is definitely possible. May be Ravan could guide us to the secret of his mileage.
