The Bajaj Chetak was the highest-selling electric 2-wheeler in the fourth quarter of FY2024-25, securing a market share of 29%.

The latest milestone comes on the back of two new launches: the 29 Series and the 35 Series. The latter is based on a new platform with floorboard-integrated batteries. The e-scooter has a 3.5 kWh battery with a claimed range of up to 153 km.

Bajaj sold over 2 lakh electric scooters in 2024. With a 50% market share, the Chetak dominates Maharashtra, which is also India’s largest EV market.

Bajaj also holds a 28% market share in the CNG, electric 2-wheeler and 3-wheeler segments. EVs and CNG-powered models make up 40% of the company’s domestic sales.

Re: Bajaj Chetak becomes best-selling e-scooter of Q4 FY2024-25

The Chetak is the most well-built electric scooter in the market with a Full metal body ensuring durability and sturdiness. Bajaj understood the market and launched the 35 series, which takes care of many of the cons of the earlier generation with 153 km of range on a single charge, a longer seat, 35 litres of underseat storage, a bigger footboard, smart features including a touchscreen on higher variants and a fast 950W onboard charger.

The timeless design, smooth and efficient performance, reliability, comfort and practicality have made it a best seller. Calnder Year 2025 seems promisng for the Chetak and with competitiors not living up to their expectations and facing hassles in one way or the other, Chetak seems destined to be the best-seller for the year 2025 unless compeittors catch up quickly

In which part of India are these huge numbers of Chetaks being sold? I hardly see them on Bangalore roads. With the enthusiastic adoption of EVs here , I was expecting them to be an everyday sight, with the numbers being reported, but that is not the case so far.

Majority sales are coming from Maharashtra, Chetak is seen quite often on streets of Pune, which happens to be "two-wheeler" city.

Re: Bajaj Chetak becomes best-selling e-scooter of Q4 FY2024-25

I bought a matt red 3501 in January of this year for city commutes and school drops after evaluating Ola and Ather Rizta. Done approx. 2000 kilometers so far and pretty happy with it. The TechPack is a waste and there are s/w bugs, but other than that no major hassles. Also, real world range after charging to 100% is 134 kms and charge drops based on usage.

Re: Bajaj Chetak becomes best-selling e-scooter of Q4 FY2024-25

I have picked up the Chetak 3501 in Navy blue. Picked it up without the techpack. IF I need it, then I will buy probably in my 1st service.

While delivering the showroom person warned me not to let the bike sit idle for more than 3 or 4 days. I was wondering as to why would someone give me that specific piece of advice.

Upon prodding he said the smaller auxiliary battery is prone to discharge battery when kept idle for a few days.

I am actually quite concerned about this after taking the delivery. The ride otherwise is smooth and my better half seems to love the looks and the overall fit and finish.

My other option was Rizta as we already have an iQube at home as well.

Re: Bajaj Chetak becomes best-selling e-scooter of Q4 FY2024-25

Looks like Ola's loss was Bajaj's Gain.

I always wondered why Chetak was not hitting big numbers, given a scooter from a legacy manufacturer should be preferred than a start up.

But it really shows that people prefer things from newer companies that what their parents use to own. Which is a very Genz thing to be honest. So i don't think that this will last long. New players will catch up.

I'm totally new to battery vehicles and have a generic query. So if you charge fully and ride very less, what is average depletion in SOC over say a week or so? Asking specifically for Chetak.

I almost use daily but on some days that I don't use, I generally see about 1% discharge only.

Learnt this the hard way, so I would advise try to keep any EV plugged in as much as possible. Specially if you are going to be away for a while, but sometimes even an overnight glitch can cause issues. There's no apparent downside to keeping it plugged it.

No, the auxiliary battery(it's like the battery of our IC bikes like exide/amaron) cannot be charged the usual way. It is basically used for opening the seats, the front parcel tray, the on/off button and other small electricals of the scooter.
