MoRTH says Ola Electric inflated sales numbers with unlaunched models

Ola Electric inflated its February sales figures by including e-scooters and motorcycles that were yet to be launched in the market.

According to the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH), Ola Electric added 10,866 customer bookings for the Gen 3 Ola S1 and 1,395 Roadster X bookings to its February sales numbers under the “confirmed orders” header.

The Gen 3 Ola S1 and Roadster X accounted for nearly 50% of the 25,207 “confirmed orders” in February. However, the vehicle registration data showed only 8,600 units

When asked for a clarification over the discrepancy in its sales numbers, Ola Electric said that these were vehicle bookings but did not clarify if these were invoiced or delivered to customers.

MoRTH has asked Ola to revise its February sales data and include only those vehicles that were invoiced during the month. The ministry has also sought a response from the company within 7 days.

re: MoRTH says Ola Electric inflated sales numbers with unlaunched models

Ola is up to its tricks again, closing customer tickets without resolution, and opening another one once a complaint on the same arises at a different date to show maximum complaint resolution, inflating sales numbers. They try everything to show they are going well, when it is just not the case.

However, despite this, there remains something with these calculations. Ola Gen 3 products were available for purchase throughout February, with customers making full payments for their S1X. S1X+, S1 Pro and Pro + throughout the month, with deliveries promised in March, meanwhile, the Roadster series was also available for purchase since February 6 or so, with deliveries promised in April, despite website showing earlier delivery dates, customers did indeed make complete payments for these but many are still to receive their scooters.

So, Let's see if this would be the reply Ola gives or comes up with a whole different story altogether.

Why does nothing about this company surprise me anymore? I'm certain others feel no different.

The direction Ola is heading is worrisome - for its customers, retail stream, supply chain, its employees, investors, and not to forget, the larger 2W EV industry, and competitors.

How are they even allowed to continue to operate as a going concern is mind-boggling.

It seems like a large scale scam, akin to Sahara, is underway, and we, the citizens, are unable to stop it.

This happened to me, my scooter stopped responding and since I was out of town, the battery got discharged. They refused to tow and wanted me to pay 4000Rs. I hooked up a towing setup with a towel, a bungee cord and a towing rope and me and my friend just rode it to the service centre. They fixed it by resetting something. There was one shocking time I noticed, they were able to reset the ODO to 0. . So, the big lesson I learnt, you can never believe the odo on a Ola and it is a 2 minute job to open a locked seat.

When one sees that Founder’s face and hears all the stuff that he says along with all the internet rants and news articles, one should realise by now that it is better to maintain a healthy (and safe) distance between one’s self and all of those Products.

The Display runs a modified version of android, which can be accessed, modified and made to do whatever you want on it. You can browse the web and watch YouTube or install apps on it, It is just a tablet fixed on the scooter; in simple terms, the seat unlocking mechanism is a known hack and has been on YouTube since launch. If your phone is paired with the scooter, you can turn it on even if the display isn't working.

There are way too many hacks you can do on the Ola, and if you aren't careful, you could end up in a lot of trouble.

That is why there was an outcry for an Ola with a physical key, and Ola finally gave into it with the S1 X series. It is simpler, but way too much cost-cutting on the model. I used to wonder how they could make a cheaper version of an Ola S1 Pro when it screams cheap with the poorly aligned body panels, panel gaps, cheap materials and stuff. Now when I saw it in the flesh, I understand it is just as barebones as it can get.

Anyways, with such tactics, Ola won't last long, Earlier, it was the horrific after-sales, now that has been resolved to an extent, at least in my region, now the next thing is a better product in terms of buil,d which hasn't changed a bit in the 3 generations.

So true, having invested in Ola (the stock) regret not waiting or researching a bit more on company practices.
The only upside with Ola being a publicly traded company is that we get audited data.
