What you'll like:

• Significant upgrade over its predecessor. A beginner-friendly off-road motorcycle that's comfortable on the road too
• Performance is strong from the 210cc liquid-cooled engine. 24.3 BHP & 20.7 Nm is sufficient for most riders
• New six-speed transmission makes it a more relaxed cruiser at highway speeds (85-95 km/h)
• Improved off-road capability with new chassis, tyres, long travel telescopic front suspension and gas-charged mono-shock with linkages at the rear
• Decent spread of features includes projector LED headlamps, 4.2-inch TFT screen with phone connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, slip and assist clutch, dual-channel ABS with three modes
• Good value for money with prices starting at Rs 1.76 lakh for the 'Base' variant and Rs 1.86 lakh for the 'Top' variant (on-road pricing, Mumbai)

What you won't:

• Still not as effortless to ride at triple-digit speeds constantly
• At ~170 kg wet weight, it is substantially heavier compared to its predecessor
• Vibrations can be felt through foot pegs and fuel tank post 7,000rpm
• Hardcore off-road riders would prefer the adjustable suspension and a slimmer fuel tank from the Xpulse 200 4V Pro
• Long-term reliability of the new engine is unknown
• 6,000 km service interval is on the shorter side

Sub 2L I will pick xpulse
Above 2L will skip all these and pay a little more and get the New 390 ADV X.

Rest I will completely ignore. If one is planning to chose the 250 KTM they should save up and buy the 390 ADV X and skip the 250.

The odd ball inbetween will be the suzuki.

Voted for Hero Xpulse 210

I think the Hero Xpulse 210 offers good value for money among the available choices. It provides sufficient power at a very reasonable price. Although it has a new engine, the bike performs well in both city conditions and on highways at moderate speeds. It also boasts several features, including a 4.2-inch TFT screen that displays all the necessary details. The only drawback is its weight, which stands at 170 kg and feels noticeably heavier compared to other bikes.

Voted Vstrom SX 250.

- I felt it has better refinement.
-V Strom has better touring capabilities if you are not looking at offroading.
- Has 2 BHP more than the Xpulse 210.
-Slightly wider pillion seats.
-The yellow Vstrom looks good. Still turns head after 2 years.
-Service quality between Vstom and Xpulse is more or less the same. I had CBZ xtreme for a long time and the hero service is nothing to write about. Nothing to boast about suzuki service too.
-Most importantly , I have a Vstrom sx 250 and hence voted for it :-D

My vote goes for the Xpulse 210, it seems the best value for money with good performance and features

Xpulse 210 is a very enticing package. That Karizma motor was very friendly in the city. With the changes they've made, it should be a good middle ground for very little money. Decent low end tractability, 6 gears and no more bad fueling in low revs. Makes it the perfect beginners bike

Re: Hero Xpulse 210 vs Hero Xpulse 200 4V vs Suzuki V-Strom 250 vs KTM 250 Adventure vs Others

Voted for Xpulse 210 as I believe it strikes the right balance of being practical yet capable enough to tackle the wilderness while being affordable, more so than its older sibling. Reliability is still an uncertainty though, but it should fare better than the normal Xpulse, though nowhere closer to the V-Strom. Would have opted for the Vstrom, if not for that suspension setup that sticks out like a sore thumb in an otherwise great package, barring the premium price.

Cheers,
NI

Would it make sense to get the V-storm right now? Looking for a beginner bike really.

I feel It does make sense. Had the opportunity to rent one that had done some 47k on the odo and I feel the main things the VStrom has most going for it is -

1) Adv form factor that gives you a nice posture, you can put on some light luggage in the back. It also has ample space for 2.

2) Engine. Picks up pace well and is really quite smooth at 80 to 95 kph, harsh vibes kicked in exactly at 100kph on the speedo. Not perfect, but I believe this still has the most refined mill amongst the competitors here.

3) It's tubeless tire setup - There is always some peace of mind that comes with this aspect.

V-Storm will sell more if they upgrades the suspension. I do not understand what is the big deal in taking feedback from the customers and changing/upgrading the suspension, otherwise V-storm is a very good package. Why can't they at least imitate Xpulse or Himalayan's suspension, of-course as per the weight and dynamics of the V-storm.
Yamaha should also bring an ADV in this category.

Voted for the Yezdi Adventure for below reasons:

1. The most powerfull among the other poll options and priced below the V strom and KTM adventure.
2. Biggest fuel tank, which actually translates to good range on highways.
3. I have not ridden the Xpulse 210 yet, but the suspension on Yezdi is one of the best under 3 lacs.
4. Gets all the essential features like dual channel abs, bluetooth connectivity, navigation, charging port, all LED lighting.
5. I own one

I am quite curious as to why everybody seems to dismiss or not care about the 250 Adventure. In my view the superior refinement, friendly character, better mileage and lesser ownership cost make it a compelling proposition, atleast for people who are not hungry for crazy power figures but still appreciate all the bells and whistles of the ADV. Might also be better for new riders.

Yet almost everyone on the forum seems to push for upgrading to the 390. Why?

I am inclined towards XPulse 210, I have reserved my vote as I am yet to take a test ride of the new bike.
I am also skeptical, if this new bike might have any initial issues that needs to be ironed out.
Hence waiting for longterm ownership reviews.
