KTM restarts motorcycle production in Austria

KTM restarts motorcycle production in Austria-screenshot-20250403-1.24.10-pm.png

KTM has restarted production of new motorcycles at their Mattighofen factory in Austria. Production had paused after the brand entered a 90-day period of ‘self-administration’ on November 29, 2024. This led to a lot of job losses as well.

The big news came on February 25 this year, although production has restarted recently, with KTM required to repay 600 million Euros to creditors by May 23, 2025. This figure covers 30% of the total debts from three insolvencies, with a further 150 million Euros also needed by that date in continuation costs. Much of this money is likely to come from outside investors, recruited in partnership with Citigroup Global Markets Europe AG.

A KTM spokesperson confirmed that production had restarted, but he didn’t comment on which models are being produced, or when the new bikes would reach dealerships. There are also no details on whether they are being produced on multiple shift patterns.

A number of new bikes launched towards the end of last year are yet to reach UK markets. These include the 1390 Super Duke GT, plus multiple 1390 Super Adventures – all using KTM’s 1350cc V-twin engine. Other bikes comprise the 990 RCR sports bike, and the naked 990 Duke R.

Meanwhile in India, KTM recently launched the made-in-India KTM 390 Adventure.

On March 4, former KTM CEO, Stefan Pierer also resigned from the executive board of KTM AG, leaving former Co-CEO Gottfried Neumeister solely in charge. Pierer remains Co-CEO of parent company Pierer Mobility AG.

Rideapart has an interesting article on this https://www.rideapart.com/news/75527...t-motorcycles/

Though KTM told MCN that the production restarted late last month, it didn't say which motorcycle are they producing currently.
Worth a read.
