February 2025: Indian Motorcycle & Scooter Sales Figures & Analysis

NOTES:

1: Thanks to the team at Auto Punditz for sharing these sales numbers with us!

2: Only bikes that sell 500+ units (and thus, the relevant ones) have been included in the gainers & losers chart.

3. These manufacturer-reported sales numbers are factory dispatches to dealerships. They are NOT retail sales figures to end customers.

Yamaha R3 had more units sold in Feb than all 5 previous months combined thanks to the price cut. Still a very low number but this improvement should indicate the good demand for the product if priced right. Now imagine if Yamaha starts manufacturing the R3/MT03 models in India.

Kawasaki sold 142 and 30 klx 230 in jan and feb. Unless they drop the price by a large amount it’s going to be a quick death for the product. It would make sense if they manufacture the bike in India and price it competitively. With such weak sales i doubt if kawasaki dealerships will have spare parts readily available for it. With the new xpulse 210, new ktm 390 enduro said to launch this year i dont think the klx sales will increase.

Once the initial adopters run out, it'll settle down to probably sub 30-50 units or even lower. It usually happens with any niche product that is overpriced. I guess Kawasaki is happy playing hard to get.

The Bajaj Chetak EV was in 20th position last month but has climbed to 14th position this month, with the TVS iQube occupying the 13th position. It's great to see two EVs in the Top 15.

After experiencing a period of low sales, the Duke 390 is gaining momentum once again and has achieved growth of over 150% this month.

What’s happening with the Honda Dream? Six months ago, it was selling over 8,000 units, but now it’s down to just one. The Bajaj Freedom has a similar story; six months ago, they were selling around 20,000 units, but now it’s down to just thousands. It was launched with much fanfare, but it seems to have lost its shine now

Probably the 390 ADV launch effect as the 390 numbers are clubbed together. But that said, Duke 390 did recieve a big price cut.

Re: February 2025: Indian Motorcycle & Scooter Sales Figures & Analysis

RE pulling in 30K of classic 350 and 19k of bullet 350 shows demand is quite steady and high on ground than one that goes on online discussion. I did notice there aren’t any separate numbers for Bear 650.

They didn’t market the motorcycle either, neither have seen it much on road. Seems it’s just a small derivative of the interceptor and RE sees it the same way.

What’s going on with Ola and Ather? The situation seems quite disappointing. it appears they’re struggling to reach the masses compared to established competitors. Trust deficiency. What about other EV players in the market? Indie River was a promising start up.

Is Ola still not reporting its numbers? It doesn't look good for a company listed in the share market.

BET will eat OATS for breakfast. And the numbers are getting closer to this statement in EV & >500 CC segment.
