Youre right. It was throwing up a lot of errors on my mac. Tried on phone, and called up a contact over there. I'm set.

Thank you very much. Could book from my mobile. And funnily, they charged me Rs 20 extra, may be as transaction charges.
Between booked both. Will take a call when they are ready with deliveries.

Sri-Tesla, our critical mass is far too short to meaningfully compare to the Chinese market. I understand you're making it sound like a reference, and that's why I can't agree with you.

To date, we have had maybe five or six players who've made a meaningful impact in the Indian 2-W market - those who aren't established manufacturers.

Amongst them, Ather is the only one to build up scale.

Full Disclosure: I don't include Ola in my conversation because I don't consider them a serious manufacturer. The Ampere scooter is better built than the Ola.

River needs to expand - and fast - to be able to capitalize on market interest.

In China, there are a hundred different manufacturers vying for market share. Most are happy to settle for a few thousand units every month. The day of reckoning—read consolidation—isn't too far away.

Their ability to exist is thanks to their proven capabilities in product development and efficient supply chain management.

China can afford to play large. They've the largest captive market for EVs. India will have to go a long way to prove EV scooters can make a difference.

And we must count Honda (or Suzuki/Yamaha) to play no meaningful part in the transition.

If India can do a China in EV scooters, we can have the global market for ourselves. Cheap and efficient runabouts can sell volumes across the globe. The UV Tesseract can work wonders in the European markets, the TVS iCube in the African markets, and the Chetak in the South American markets!

For that to happen, our product development and quality control must improve drastically. Being able to build batteries at a fairly reasonable cost will be a good start.

Swell! Isn't it?

Re: Ultraviolette Tesseract e-scooter launched at ₹1.2L ex-showroom

We have been looking for a practical and cool-looking scooter for our weekly market commute and regular local commutes. After going through our initial dilemma between the ICE and EVs, we decided that it would be better to go for an ICE as installing a charging point in the basement of our apartment would be a tough job.

With the above decision in mind, We have already checked out the TVS Jupiter, Yamaha Aerox, Suzuki Access, and Yamaha Fascino. After going through and test-driving all the above scooters we felt the TVS Jupiter 110cc was the most reliable and practical choice, albeit not too cool looking, but it still looks neat in its new avatar.

We were about to book the same for this upcoming Holli.

Now surprise, surprise we pre-booked the UV Tesseract yesterday at midnight.

This scooter just seems too good to be true at its present price point. If the top end touches the 2 lakh price on-road, I feel it is a reasonable asking price for the features offered and the power and range as mentioned in the brochure. Hopefully, the Tesseract will be as sorted as its stable mates when it comes to real-world scenarios.

Fingers crossed for getting that charging point installed.

I have pre-booked for Rs. 999, the long wait begins!
In the same boat, but for a bike. Pre-booked the Tesseract at 999/-. Let's wait and watch, Rs.999/- is a good catch.

Re: Ultraviolette Tesseract e-scooter launched at ₹1.2L ex-showroom

As someone who does not need an electric scooter - this was too hard to ignore.

Paid the intent amount of 999/- around 2.30 PM when it was officially open at 3.00 PM on the 5th of March.

What played out and made this an impulse:

1. The Looks that make it look strong (like the Indie) yet sophisticated (unlike the Indie)
2. The power - 20 BHP in a scooter is something I wasn't ready for
3. The technology pack has more than what you need, it has what you may want!
4. Even for 3.5KW - 120K INR is too good to ignore.

The purchase decision manifests in a year (2026), and by then the hype with die down, we will know what it is like, and hopefully will have very real reasons to purchase the product or not.

Re: Ultraviolette Tesseract e-scooter launched at ₹1.2L ex-showroom

I don't know if this has been asked before but what is the guarantee that this is not yet another EV bike/Scooter company that pops up once every few months with lots of promises and does not deliver? I am not trying to call this a scam but I genuinely want to understand them. Till the launch day, I had never heard of this company.

Only thing that bothers me is the number plate with indicators hanging over the rear wheel. They could have put that below the seat ?

Re: Ultraviolette Tesseract e-scooter launched at ₹1.2L ex-showroom

I am following Ultraviolet from the day they announced F77 which is the first EV bike I wanted to buy few years back. I kept following them with curiosity as they seems to be doing differently.

The current announcement of Shockwave really shocked me and booked it immediately along with the scooter for my wife. Since I believed in Ola, but got back the booking amount (and a tee shirt), all I am expecting to lose is Rs 18 as the convenience fee. Things will be clearer by the end of the year I hope.

They have been around for a while. Their first product was a bike which is quite nice but not sure about sales numbers. They are funded by TVS among others. Unlike a lot of start ups, what is nice about them is not too much noise. Their products do the talking and the bike quality wise is unlike anything else in the market.

I booked mine today afternoon. As you rightly mentioned that the delivery is due in 2026 giving us ample time to see how the market/ industry evolves and then take an educated call.

My Honda Activa is due for retirement after running tirelessly for 18 years and clocking close to 1 Lakh Km of absolutely flawless performance. (In the entire 18 years, there was only one breakdown on road when the transmission belt gave away a few years ago)

Let's see how this EV will fare.

Re: Ultraviolette Tesseract e-scooter launched at ₹1.2L ex-showroom

Honestly in my opinion, Ultraviolette has dropped a bombshell on the whole EV market. I have booked mine just a couple of hours ago

I have a 8 year old Activa 3G at home and has been a daily use vehicle for smaller 1-5km runs in and near my place with an occasional 20-25km use sparingly.

The Tesseract looks very striking IMHO. Love the Desert Sand colour on the vehicle. I was also pleasantly surprised at the specs displayed on the website.

A casual comparison on Bikewale shows a huge difference in the power output. Can anyone please confirm if that is right?

If Ultraviolette plays their cards wise, they really do have a very promising product in their hand.

As a bike lover I am excited by cool looking and feature loaded products like these. However as a car driver I am terrified by these silent and fast accelerating bikes in the hands of "squids".

Re: Ultraviolette Tesseract e-scooter launched at ₹1.2L ex-showroom

Hottest new stuff in the EV space, this! UV is a brilliant brand, but never had any mass market presence, took the tesla route of building an high value, high performance, high-tech product first to prove the mettel and then potentially target the mass market.

What that brings with it, is the expectations and demands of the mass market customer (very unforgiving!). I'm hoping, in the next 12 months, they'll build more service centers, customer care and the entire after sales support to boost confidence, and do a good job of desseminating that information.

I've pre-booked one myself, after debating in my mind since yesterday because while I can justify it all I want, I have absolutely no need for this - purely going to be a waste of money, but whatever! I've ridden all new OEM scooters (incumbent OEM products are just plain boring). Bought Ola and it was a mistake. River, too big, and didn't like the design. Ather continues to feel over-priced for all intents and purposes, and yes, it may turn out the same for Tesseract, but atleast it's a cooler design :P

P.S: The amount is not refundable after the launch (fine print and asterix). Wonder what information we will have available before the actual launch, but if all goes well, this will be an interesting one to bring home.
