Oh my god!! This will be a big electric shock to the existing E2W players. OLA and Ather should be s**t scared!!

Leave alone the introductory price - starting price of Rs 1,45,000 for scooter with this feature list. It is just wow!! To put it in perspective, OLA S1 Pro+ Gen3 5.3 KWH has ex-showroom price of Rs.1,69,999 and Ather 450x 3.7 KWH has ex-showroom price of Rs.1,56,999. These are top model being sold for each brand and the prices include the current discounts and subsidy

Good to see manufacturers building European level products for India. Just that this will be available after 1 year, the incumbents will get time to react.

Re: Ultraviolette Tesseract e-scooter launched at ₹1.2L ex-showroom

I was in the market looking for an EV and test drove both the Rizta and River Indie. I decided to wait for online sales to book the Rizta S. While I liked the Indie Gen2, I felt it was slightly overpriced, and my wife didn't like its design. Today, I happened to come across the launch of Ultraviolette Tesseract and instinctively pre-booked it. I'd like to check with others who made pre-bookings: how can I determine if I'm among the first 10,000 bookings?

Re: Ultraviolette Shockwave electric bike launched at Rs 1.75 lakh

UV has also launched scooter named Tesseract at Rs.145000. First 10000 customers will get it at Rs.25000 discount on any variant. Same discount applicable to Shockwave. Have booked the scooter some time back.

If anyone interested, please do so ASAP. I couldn't do it online, but their SA booked it for me.

Mod Note: Moved your post from the Shockwave thread to here as it is the dedicated thread for the Tesseract.

I also just booked it through their website. But the online bookings are just pre-bookings (equivalent to an Expression of Interest). The discount will be for first 10000 deliveries (not first 10000 online bookings).

Ok. My SA told it is applicable for this booking and variant configurations and other communications will come down the line. Anyway fingers crossed.

Re: Ultraviolette Shockwave electric bike launched at Rs 1.75 lakh

I feel everyone is getting too excited about the features for the price. It is highly likely that they'll go the Ather route and not offer any of the cool features on the base model. The loaded model might end up costing ₹2.5L, at which point I'd likely drop out.

Also, as others pointed out, the base model range is 162KM IDC (pretty much the exact same as Indie) which might translate to ~100KM real world on eco mode.

The next 50,000 deliveries also carry a ₹15,000 discount as per their terms.

Re: Ultraviolette Tesseract e-scooter launched at ₹1.2L ex-showroom

So much innovation is happening in India's electric 2-wheeler space, mainly by startups and followed closely by legacy companies. Now all this is being taken to another level by Ultraviolette with radar, dashcam, dual channel ABS, wireless charging, traction control modes, bigger batteries, range, etc... I have prebooked just based on the features list and pricing. The high end variant with 6kWh battery and all the features will probably cost between Rs 2 to 2.5 lakhs.

The innovation in the Indian 2-wheeler space is similar to the Chinese electric cars, albeit at a smaller scale.

While I don't agree with you in its entirety, I'll highlight a few points.

Many of the features they've added are straight off-the-box hardware. I'm pleased they have the code-writing capabilities to accompany the show.

Thankfully, they've the engineering depth to go with the code-writing capabilities.

On another note, the UV Tesseract is squarely benchmarked against the River Indie.

This pleases me. They're benchmarking against the best EV scooter in the market. I only hope and pray they get the suspension set up as well as River did.

As I mentioned in an internal River Owner Group, the Tesseract brings the few items missing in the River Indie:
1) Better headlights
2) Considerably more tech-oriented rearview mirrors
3) Hill-hold function
4) More power, and better top-speed
5) A larger battery.

Interesting times, friends!

This is what a sports scooter should look like. Not what Ather did with the 450x. A 9hp scoot should not be called sports scooter simply because it has stiff suspension and has a smaller seat and storage than normal family scooters.

It's the same with Chinese car companies. Only difference is their supply chains are even more advanced and operate at a much larger scale than ours. Maybe a few companies like BYD, which is originally a battery company, will be manufacturing their batteries, but most of the companies will source from the major suppliers locally or from International companies only.

Re: Ultraviolette Tesseract e-scooter launched at ₹1.2L ex-showroom

I think this is the non-luxury scooter (think BMW C400GT) that has DUAL-CHANNEL ABS.

Until now only the 150cc scooters from Vespa and Aprillia had single-channel ABS, simply because govt rules mandate it. None of the EV scooters had it till now, again, because no sarkari rules required it.

I really appreciate Ultraviolette for taking this first step into giving dual-channel ABS without being forced to do so. Hopefully market dynamics kick in and other manufacturers start giving this to at least tick a box in their marketing material.

Re: Ultraviolette Tesseract e-scooter launched at ₹1.2L ex-showroom

Did anyone succeed in pre-booking? I tried to book Shockwave as it literally shocked me with its looks. UV sends two OTPs for some unknown reason and the second one is accepted. But, once the OTP is valid, it pops up a message asking whether to stay or leave the page and both results in the same "OTP invalid".

:(
