Triumph Speed T4 prices slashed; now costs Rs 1.99 lakh

Triumph has revised the prices of the Speed T4 by Rs 18,000. The bike now costs Rs 1.99 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Speed T4 is the more affordable version of the Speed 400. It was initially launched at Rs 2.17 lakh, Rs 23,000 less than the Speed 400. Triumph had announced a discount of Rs 18,000 in December last year.

The Speed T4 comes with fewer features compared to the Speed 400. The bike gets a semi-digital instrument console and a single-piece seat.

The Speed T4 is powered by the same 398cc, single-cylinder engine that is restricted to 30.6 BHP and 36 Nm. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The suspension is more conventional with a telescopic fork at the front and a mono-shock at the rear.

Re: Triumph Speed T4 prices slashed; now costs Rs 1.99 lakh

Looking at the sales numbers and price adjustments, it appears that the concept of lower power with stronger low-end performance didn’t resonate with the Triumph audience. The majority of customers still seem to prefer the Speed 400 over the other two models.

Sensible move. There is now enough differentiation between this and the Speed not just in ride experience but also in terms of price. This will now fight against the Hunter 350, base Jawas and the Ronin.

From what I have heard - customers are liking the engine tune.

Problem is - the step down in features is too much for the asking price. Speed 400 offers a much better quality feel due to components like that USD forks, ride by wire, traction control, aluminium finished exhaust, etc - which this Speed T4 misses out on.

May be the repositioning might help with that aspect!

Re: Triumph Speed T4 prices slashed; now costs Rs 1.99 lakh

This bike has a special place in my heart. It's the perfect bike, according to me. I haven't ridden this, so my opinion is based entirely on what I've seen on the roads and media.

This price cut makes it more tempting to convince my parents to get me this, but I don't think that's happening anytime soon! Maybe after I start working, I'll pick this up with my savings!

Hopefully! In my opinion, this is a solid alternative to the Hunter 350.

Re: Triumph Speed T4 prices slashed; now costs Rs 1.99 lakh

The price difference between the two Speeds was far too little. I got my Speed 400 for 2.23 lakh in September 2023. A year later, this was launched for 2.18 lakh and the same day the Speed 400 prices were increased to 2.4 lakh.

T4 lost out on equipment and hp while the price difference was far too little to justify this. If it had been just the engine tune change for the 5k difference, it could have been justified, maybe.

Anyways, the T4 now is priced more in line with the Base Mavrick 440 and Honda CB350 which anyways don't sell too many units. T4 is better value than those. Good that the price has been rationalized now. But the big one here is the Classic/Bullet 350. Base models of those are also within touching distance of this price. The only thing that remains to be solved now is distribution.

Its really hard for anyone to compete with Bajaj on price. Any company partnering with Bajaj for manufacturing will always hold an upper hand when it comes to pricing. Now if only the T4 can bring some sales from the big daddy Classic 350, it will be a masterstroke for Triumph.

This is just great pricing, I hope this translates into significantly improved sales numbers of the T4. I would love to see more T4's, than the Hero Maverick, HD X440, RE Hunter and RE Guierella.

Re: Triumph Speed T4 prices slashed; now costs Rs 1.99 lakh

I would pick T4 over Hunter and Jawas anyday. So, price reduction is a great opportunity for both Triumph and its potential buyers. Unfortunately, we seem too obsessed with Royal Enfield to go for something else despite less than satisfactory quality levels with RE.

Re: Triumph Speed T4 prices slashed; now costs Rs 1.99 lakh

I think the T4 needs to be visually differentiated from the Speed by going the RE way - add chrome and remove stickers!

The modern looks don't match the experience of the bike. From what I've heard, this could be considered as the modern bullet - same feeling but faster and more responsive.

Bajaj and triumph are losing an opportunity by being stubborn about not differentiating the bike.

Imagine the T4 coming with spoke wheels!

It'll be a genuine successor to the OG Pulsar 180! In red/purple.

HOT!!!

So Triumph tuned the Speed 400 for a more mature rider and then slapped stickers like an 80s 100cc Japanese commuter bike.

Re: Triumph Speed T4 prices slashed; now costs Rs 1.99 lakh

Anybody who'd consider the RE350 and the paraphernalia should strongly consider the T4. That gap has tightened more in the 250 to 399 cc and considering the Duke 390, now getting a price reduction of almost 20k, seems Bajaj is trying to tighten the belt and get it firing on all cylinders evenly. With almost 10 hp more 10 nm more and a motorcycle that handles as sweet as the KTM, the T4 should get the exposure and the credit it deserves.

Seems though all the manufacs have perfectly segued and matured the 300 to 400 cc market, albeit some manufacs late to the party, they've perfectly squared off to mature the 400 cc single cylinder market, which is brilliant. More options, more features, to suit the riders of different requirement.

Cheers!

Ask, and you shall receive.

Triumph has updated the Speed T4 by launching 4 new colorways:

And this is how they look:

- "Phantom Black with Pearl Metallic White"

They've taken a more sober approach with these new color options, and I'm not complaining! The brushed steel exhaust is another great addition IMO- it gives the bike a more premium look overall. Glad to see Triumph is proactive in incorporating customer feedback. RE should take notes.

Fabulous update. Shedding that earlier busy sticker work will surely boost the sales of T4.
