Honda plans to launch 10 new electric 2-wheelers by 2030

This year, Honda launched its first electric scooters in the Indian market – Activa e: and QC1. But, the bikemaker won’t stop at that. Over the next 5 years, Honda plans to launch 10 new electric vehicles in India.

According to media reports, Honda will introduce four new EVs between 2025 and 2027, while the remaining six will arrive by 2030. While the exact details are unknown, the new models will be tailored for the Indian customer.

Honda believes that India will be the fastest-growing market in the coming decades. The electric 2-wheeler segment has also shown impressive growth, and the company aims to sell around 3 lakh units per annum (cumulative sales of the four new models that will debut between 2025 and 2027).

India will also serve as a manufacturing hub for Honda’s global EVs. Recent reports indicate that Honda is looking to set up a dedicated EV manufacturing facility in India. It is expected to be operational by 2028.

Come on Honda. Launch an electric version of the Navi
I was on the lookout for a small electric bike and the only option available was the expensive BMW CE02

Re: Honda plans to launch 10 new electric 2-wheelers by 2030

Welcome move. My expectations from Honda regarding this:-

1. Please avoid any sort of SIM card enforcing and automatic telemetry data collection, often (wrongly) called smart features. Even if you insist, please limit it to vehicular component variables only. Avoid any sort of microphone, camera, touchscreen input tracking of any sort.

2. Focus on fast charging capabilities (A 0-80% in 20 mins is ok) and presence of charging station infrastructure.

3. Avoid the Big Wing exclusivity for this, focus on mass market products. But you may use BigWing as experimental stage before launching it nationwide.

4. Talking about the product range, E-Scooters:E-motorcycles ratio could be 5:5 or 4:6 or similar. Any other ratio is my opinion would not be fruitful enough.

5. I expect this Honda to be reliable fast charger with big service intervals, even if service is slightly expensive. Overall, a vehicle which makes life easy.
