Are there any better options? How do the Reise tourRs compare to Apollo Trampler XRs? The next available upgrade is the Metzeler Tourance, but they are quite expensive.

Even I forgot this particular feature existed. Maybe a closer look at the bike in the showroom will provide some hints.

Yeah I was even thinking that. I tried to find some options but Metzeler is the only one who already has the correct sizes available. Rest are just not there. The Apollo's should last a fair few kms so hopefully by that time the actual tyres should be on sale.

Re: 2025 KTM 390 Adventure & Adventure X launched in India | Priced from Rs 2.91 lakh

Price points, even for the occasional tourer, I think the Adventure X now is a better proposition than the Duke 390, provided rider can handle the extra weight. I wonder how much those grab rails affect the pillion though. The reviews for the new 390 ADV have overwhelming reported vibrations, that is a lot deflating and I hope for KTM's sake, especially in their current scenario, issue is resolvable and is resolved.

Re: 2025 KTM 390 Adventure & Adventure X launched in India | Priced from Rs 2.91 lakh

Took a test ride of the KTM Adventure 390 X today, as the Adventure S wasn't available for test rides. Here are a few observations from someone who owns a Duke 390 and has ridden over 8,500 km across different terrains:

Approachability: The bike feels very manageable. Since I'm used to the weight of my Duke, the 390 X didn’t feel heavy at all. At 5'10", I can flat-foot comfortably on the 390 X, and on the Adventure S, I can easily put both feet down. No issues in that department.
Engine & Refinement: The engine feels more refined than my Duke 390. If you own the current-gen Duke 390, this will feel noticeably smoother. There’s still the typical KTM buzz, but I personally enjoy it—your experience with vibrations may vary.
Performance & Stability: The bike is quick and stable. I reached 80 km/h in the blink of an eye, and it remained composed without any signs of instability. It's going to be a blast to ride.
Suspension: The suspension felt plush while going over some potholes, though I haven’t tested it extensively.
Brakes: Not as sharp as my Duke’s, but still quite capable. They offer plenty of stopping power for the speeds I typically ride at.

One thing that isn’t often mentioned is that the bike comes with a toe chain guard too, which helps keep the chain secure while off-roading.

Re: 2025 KTM 390 Adventure & Adventure X launched in India | Priced from Rs 2.91 lakh

I checked out the S today, although was only able to sit on the X because the other 3 S's in the showroom were already sold.

Some observations that may or may not have already been called out, and are also not necessarily additions/changes over the previous model, or for that matter, the Gen 3 Duke 390.

Reach adjustable rear brakes.
There are 3 holes, the default seems to be setup for longer reach.

Tild adjustable gear lever.
2025 KTM 390 Adventure & Adventure X launched in India | Priced from Rs 2.91 lakh-adjustable_gear_lever.jpg

Clutch & brake lever adjustability.
We also have a Gen 3 Duke 390 with handguards and can confirm that it can be difficult to adjust it on the go, with one hand. Not a big deal though.

Crash guard bolts.
The bottom crash guard bolt seems like a long one and seems suspect to me. I recall the Dominar's bolts getting sheared off frequently. I hope that is not the case of course.

Reinforced front fender.
I'm not sure if this is a standard on all motorcycles with elevated front fenders, but that reinforcement under the fender is a good thing I believe. Same as on the V Strom 800 DE as I recall.

The front mudguard.
Good touch to prevent stones hitting the radiator. If I was to get this motorcycle, I would get the full mudguard accessory since I don't often tread off road on purpose.
2025 KTM 390 Adventure & Adventure X launched in India | Priced from Rs 2.91 lakh-mud_guard_front.jpg

Folding gear lever.
Should be made standard on all motorcycles no? Even the brake lever would be a good addition. Little things that allow you to adventure and continue your ride despite small mishaps.
2025 KTM 390 Adventure & Adventure X launched in India | Priced from Rs 2.91 lakh-folding_gear_lever.jpg

Front neck.
As I recall the previous gen Adv 390's front dome would vibrate on lower revs.
From first reviews I recall it being mentioned that this vibration is now gone and I think this tower like setup with that neck reinforced on this maybe additionally responsible.

Pillion seat.
My hand is a definite medium based on historical statistic I have comparing it with many individuals over the years
With that in mind, it's definitely small. This is surprising to me given how effective the older one's was.

Bent knee.
My height is 5"10 (178cms) and I weigh 89 kgs.
This is me sitting on the X variant and I can guarantee that with the way the seat is designed, combined with squat for my weight, results in making the 825mm seat height feel like 790mm at max. My knees are bent in this which is a massive indicator. I have both my feet flat on the ground by the way.
Like I mentioned earlier, I was unable to sit on an S variant.

Having extensively ridden the Gen 3 Duke 390 with the new LC4c engine, I believe this new Adv would fit a wider variety of motorcyclists now.

If the 373cc on the older Adv, along with the way it rode, needed a more experienced hand, I can imagine this new one reaching out with a helping hand to new riders, while allowing experienced riders to have even more fun off road now.

That said, I'm yet to take a test ride on it. So it's still conjecture at this point. But I am optimistic!

On road Bangalore - ~INR 4,77,000.

Re: 2025 KTM 390 Adventure & Adventure X launched in India | Priced from Rs 2.91 lakh

The Chennai unveil happened today with few dealers and I got to see the bike in flesh. The bike is tall now and has a purposeful look as compared to the earlier version. Since I have booked the bike, I wanted to see them in person to select the better color but both are bang average in person and I felt the electric orange is better for my mature taste. Fit and finish is decent, cable management is good and body panels feel solid. This bike is built to take a beating as the standard accessories for protection are of good quality. Looks like the delivery process in TN will start from mid May at best as the RTO approvals require around 10 days easily. I look forward to the test ride in the meantime and I feel that this motorcycle will be the new benchmark in this segment.

What I wouldn't give for an adult human sized gear lever reach on the duke

AFAIK all levers hand and foot are tilt adjustable

No can do. It sometimes unsettles me when my peg folds in sometimes when I start from a standstill. Powerparts rearsets when Bajaj? Makes sense on these ADV bikes though

Spotted one orange Adventure X on the way to Munnar today. So it is safe to assume that the KL deliveries have commenced? Looked particularly nice, imo.

It's kind of a big deal in international markets where they do adventure riding in very dusty environments for weeks without breaks. Most modern ADVs have the airbox under the tank and it takes a lot of work and tools to even get to the airbox let alone changing the filter in the middle of nowhere. Seasoned adventure riders run a pre-filter in that case. But KTM has thought this through it seems.

Found this Instagram post that confirms it. Hopefully we will get more details once the ADV gets popular.

Re: 2025 KTM 390 Adventure & Adventure X launched in India | Priced from Rs 2.91 lakh

Saw a KTM showroom yesterday and the new ADVs displayed in the window. Went in to have a closer look.

2025 KTM 390 Adventure & Adventure X launched in India | Priced from Rs 2.91 lakh-01-02.jpg

Enough has already been said, seen and discussed on the bikes so without getting in to technical details, what I observed was as follows:
* The bike looks slim overall. And tall at the front with that big visor.
* View of cockpit from riders seat is nice and clean.
* Fit and finish felt bit industrial. like those black and decker products. Its not as well finished as say GS310 for eg. But this sense of rugged finish would help in using it the way its intended to and not baby it.
* I checked the cable lengths and seems like there is decent slack and handlebar risers should be possible to install without having cable length issues.
* There are way too many pastic panels all around and hope they dont vibrate and resonate over time adding to buzzy nature.
* The bike will be very difficult to keep clean.
* The riding geometry felt natural and seat height was normal too. I am used to riding a 400X, for reference.

Test rides were not available, and may take another few days. Waiting for a decent test ride to take a call. So far so good with the bike.

As long as the panels don't vibrate and produce harmonic buzzes especially plastic mating parts and panels then it's a job well done. Lots left to see with these new kids. Time shall tell how urban-ized they are when it comes dealing with the daily nag factors.

I feel pre-filters add to the cost and maintenance and this moreover the airbox design says it all. Mostly pre-filters are added as an extra sock over the air filters i.e. conical, spherical and tuboid types wherein sometimes they need that extra protection so that the main filter maintenance is easy - resusble ones.

KTM here mostly recommends like most manufacs to replace the filter after a preset period which in our dusty conditions is highly, recommended instead of cleaning them.

Unfortunately the bikes haven't yet landed here in Coimbatore. The folks at the showroom have assured to call me back once its up for display, with TDs being another week later. True, i personally love the 250 design more than the 390s though they have their own charm. Bring in the Atlantic Blue shade of the Duke 390 to this ADV and this shall have an charm unlike any -- well.

Cheers!

It's the same as on the gen 3 250 and 390 Dukes.

Removing the left side panel and the airbox covering panel, will get you to the air filter. Easy job.

This means the existing aftermarket air filters for the gen 3 Dukes can also fit the Adventure models.

I replaced my Duke's stock air filter with BMC's. It improved the low end and city riding experience.
