2025 KTM 250 Adventure unveiled ahead of India launch

KTM has taken the wraps off the all-new 250 Adventure. The 2025 edition is expected to be launched in India soon.

The 2025 KTM 250 Adventure shares its underpinnings with the 390 Adventure. It features a steel trellis frame suspended by an upside-down fork at the front and an adjustable mono-shock at the rear, offering 200 mm and 205 mm of travel, respectively.

The new 250 Adventure is powered by the same 248cc, single-cylinder engine as the 250 Duke. It produces 30 BHP and 24 Nm and is paired with a 6-speed gearbox.

Braking duties are handled by a 320 mm disc at the front and a 240 mm disc at the rear, supported by switchable dual-channel ABS. The bike rides on alloy wheels with a 19-inch rim at the front and a 17-inch wheel at the back.

So, what's new on the 250 Adventure? Well, you now get a 14-litre fuel tank, a 5-inch digital instrument console, ride-by-wire, and a bi-directional quickshifter.

If priced right , goodbye RTX. The Himalayan can have a suitable competition at that price point despite raw figure differences. I say this as I expect this to be 3-3.5 on road Bangalore and thus undercutting the RE as well as the upcoming Nvidia , erhm TVS RTX.

I personally feel that TVS will price the RTX below the H450 and X. It'll still have a decent number of takers. There is a major adventure biking segment that's not fully exploited between 1.9-2.9L. It is going to be slightly more usable on the highway than a 250 with the 300 mill and 35hp.

Re: 2025 KTM 250 Adventure unveiled ahead of India launch

Yup, it will be priced slightly below Himmy, but no enough to woo folks away from the Orange brand. It will be about 2.6 or 2.7 ex showroom based on how the RR and RTR are priced. I own an RTR 310 and it set be back by 3.35 on road ( 2.57 showroom). For almost 40k less i was getting a Duke 250 which is a good bike in its own right. I went for the RTR310 as the overall package is better, but most folks will just go for the Duke 250 ( and the sales marker shows). For this new platform to come with competent accoutrements from the get go is a pucca eyeball and wallet stealing move. Now we wait as it always good to have competition. As always, time tells no lies, and this year the Indian public will be spoilt for choice , lets see who wins as its a win win for us i say.

This will attract a whole lot of both first timers and older adv riders including me who's not touched a motorbike for 20 years.

Though its all speculative at this stage - IMHO you described the problem for RTX pretty well.

Most likely to be priced below the Himalayan 450 and the 390 Adventure X, but very likely to have only slightly more useable performance than a 250 Adventure.

In other words - no man's land yet again as has been the case with the 310s too!

I was thinking the same, it is in no man's land and not providing a unique value proposition for a customer upgrading from 200cc. Those looking at a touring motorcycle will stretch a little more and go for Himalayan/ 390 Adventure X.

TVS looks good and will be priced competitively. Wish they pitched it against Himalayan/ Adventure X with a 400 cc motor.

Personally, I would prefer the KTM 250 Adventure over the RTX, considering KTM's expertise in adventure bikes—though TVS does excel at benchmarking.

Re: 2025 KTM 250 Adventure unveiled ahead of India launch

Clear indication that KTM is here to stay, at least in India.

The new Duke 250's bottom end performance is much improved than the older Duke 250. KTM may retune the existing engine, to produce more torque at lower end for the Adventure.

The Duke 250 recently got a price reduction, from 2.4 to 2.25 lacs.

Dont be surprised if KTM launches the Adventure 250 at 2.45 lacs

2025 KTM 250 Adventure launched at Rs 2.60 lakh

KTM has launched the 2025 edition of the 250 Adventure in India. The ADV is priced at Rs 2,59,850 (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The new 250 Adventure features a heavily updated design that’s more in line with its larger sibling, the 390 Adventure. It has a new LED headlamp with U-shaped LED DRLs, a tall windshield, a raised front fender and knuckle guards.

The 250 Adventure is based on the same platform as the 390 Adventure. It has a WP Apex USD fork at the front and mono-shock suspension at the rear, offering 200 mm of travel in the front and 205 mm in the rear. The ground clearance is 227 mm. It rides on alloy wheels with a 19-inch rim at the front and a 17-inch rim at the rear.

Powering the 250 Adventure is a 249cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine that produces 30.57 BHP and 25 Nm. The engine is paired with a 6-speed gearbox via a slip-and-assist clutch. It also gets a bi-directional quick shifter and ride-by-wire throttle.

Braking is handled by a 320 mm front disc and a 240 mm rear disc supported by dual-channel ABS. Other features include a 5-inch TFT instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity and an Off-Road.

Who would buy this when, for just ₹45,000 more, you can get the 390 Adventure X? It offers better performance and ensures you won’t feel the need to upgrade anytime soon.

Re: 2025 KTM 250 Adventure unveiled ahead of India launch

Can't really blame KTM for the price. They have a unique problem on their hands when it comes to the 250. It's basically the same as X and gets a smaller engine which shares the bottom end with the 390. So the production costs are the same. They are simply unable to create a bigger pricing distinction between the X and 250 due to that. Plus it gets the standard QS & TFT which makes it about 10k more expensive than older gen. Ideally the price should've stayed the same at 2.49L but they probably couldn't.

Re: 2025 KTM 250 Adventure unveiled ahead of India launch

KTM had a great opportunity here to disrupt the mid-size ADV market a little bit. If you look at the 250-450cc offerings in this space, the prices stack up as follows:

Name: Screenshot 20250206 at 12.36.518239PM.png
Views: 152
Size: 47.7 KB

There's a vacant space in the ADV segment around the 2.4-2.5L mark, with plenty of options on either side of this imaginary line. Had KTM priced the 250 ADV around 2.4, then this would automatically be in contention against the larger capacity 300-450cc street bikes from Honda, Triumph and RE. By opting to price it higher, they've taken themselves out of the equation and are risking cannibalization with the 390 ADV X or the Himalayan.

The 250 ADV should have offered some serious upgrades over its own Husqy and Duke 250 siblings, because right now, I can't for the life of me figure out why the 250 ADV would be anyone's preferred choice. Suspension travel might be one, but again I might as well get the 390. Sorry KTM- looks like you may need to correct this sooner rather than later.

Edit: correction- looks like the 390 ADV X is 2.9L and not 2.8. But the points remain valid.
