The brochure is also out with specifications for both variants.
Lets see how this battery swapping thing unfolds. Interesting times ahead in EV scooters.

I'd choose the bigger, more spacious Ather Rizta over this. It's cheaper, gets more range and can be charged at home.

Activa-e completely relying on battery swapping makes it unusable in any city other than Bangalore for now.

Battery swapping is cool and all but inability to charge the battery at home is a bigger inconvenience than the lack of storage space in this scooter.
I wonder if any third party companies would design and sell chargers that can charge these batteries at home, but Honda might have put some kind of software lock to prevent this already.

The BLACK is a stunner ,
and I had half the mind to pick it up.
On road it is coming to Rs 1,26,000.

"If you're doing 40 Km daily the monthly swap charge is Rs 2000
For 100 Km daily it is Rs 4000 per month"

My observations:
The 'surge' is the best on any e scooter I have experienced.
The whole body looks 'shrunk' a bit. And I was this 'giant' on the tiny Activa
This has your traditional gearing mated to electric motor. And yes it has regular oil change.
No boot space worth considering.

I was given a brief 'touch' time and the launch is next week.

A plus point for EV's as such is the reduced maintenance(+cost). Regular oil change?- this is just another reason for squeezing that bit more from customers and warranty denials.

How is the swap charge rates when compared to traditional home and station charging? It doesn't fare much better compared to a 110cc petrol scooter with 40km daily riding for a month's use.

Re: Honda Activa e: electric scooter launched at Rs 1.17 lakh

The batteries should have been made sequential instead of parallel as they are now. It should have been designed to run on 1 battery and when that battery was fully used up it would switch to the second one. Then the rider would have 'x' kilometres to swap the drained out battery for a new one and continue the cycle

Here, both the batteries drain at the same time, so when the range is down to 10 kilometres or so the hunt for a station would begin. Always, some charge would have to be sacrificed since one cannot drain the battery down to zero before swapping
