Hero MotoCorp developing mid-size performance e-bike in partnership with Zero Motorcycles

Back in 2023, the world's largest two-wheeler brand, Hero MotoCorp, announced a partnership with US-based company Zero Motorcycles. Now, a little more than a year later, a top company executive has revealed that a mid-size performance electric motorcycle is in its advanced stages of development.

Hero MotoCorp invested up to $20 million in the California-based in 2022. The following year, the two companies announced a collaboration to develop premium electric bikes.

Talking about the upcoming mid-size performance e-bike, Niranjan Gupta, CEO of Hero MotoCorp, stated, "I would say it's in the advanced stage. We haven't announced the timeline as yet, but we would be looking at something which would not be too far off." He also confirmed that the upcoming electric motorcycle will slot in the performance segment.

Hero currently sells the VIDA e-scooter in the Indian market. The electric scooter is priced between Rs 1 lakh to 1.5 lakh. The company has plans of expanding its e-scooter range covering multiple price segments in this calendar year.

I had confirmation from a Zero executive that the plan is to develop a 250 cc equivalent machine. This was just at the start of the project but now I don't have any information on which direction they have decided upon internally.
