Government rules on motorcycle sidecars?

Hi
I was looking to buy a bike with a sidecar to introduce my son to the pleasures of biking (or riding)
-Do you know anyone who is selling one of these?
-I am told the govt restricts ownership and use to handicapped persons - is this true?
Thanks
Amitabh

Never heard of any such restriction ... You should contact the local registration authority (you also need to get such a change in the vehicle approved by them, so you'll have to visit them anyways)

Yeah, there is no restriction for that. 2 support wheels are provided in special vehicles, not sidecars.

From what I've heard, the restriction applies to two wheelers with support wheels. I don't know how sidecars are regulated, but they should be regulated. Some of the worst scooter riders use them (or do they make people ride badly?).

Re: Government rules on motorcycle sidecars?

Hey Joe
Hendrix has a song for you.
Also, I decided not to get a sidecar, although I had a vintage bullet at the time.
Too much trauma for anyone in that situation and so low to the road...
Pune situation not any better.
You could mount a bicycle child seat on the front of a pannier - now that would be a joy for any passenger large or small!
Be safe and have fun
