Best Used Bikes in India for different price ranges

Hey guys ! I started this new thread in the hopes of making a place where people can easily enquire about what second-hand motorcycle they can purchase bases on their requirements. I created this thread in the hopes of making it easier for people to ask their questions and decide on a bike. To make it a simple and quick process I thought of a template that people can use.

Use case of bike :-
Type of bike :-
Specific requirements :-
Options that have been possibly shortlisted(optional) :-
Budget :-

I really hope this can help people like me and other people who are also in a similar dilemma.

I thank everyone for their help in advance

Right so coincidentally, I have the same question so here is the information I have

Use case of bike :- Mainly city usage possibly a bit of touring here and there
Type of bike :- I would prefer something in the naked bike category but I am fine with anything that does not have an overly committed seating position
Specific requirements :- I enjoy high revving engines like the Dukes of the world but I also want to know any other alternate options that may be present
Options that have been shortlisted :- As of now it's a KTM Duke 200

I thank you for your help in advance

Also can the moderators please add a budget category to the template I made in the previous post ? I thought it might be a good addition

Budget :- Maximum 2.5 lakh preferably lower

NS 400z would be a good option as well.

I had thought of that as well, but I would prefer buying a used bike as I do not have plans of keeping the bike for a very long time. It's only going to be a maximum of 2 or 3 years.

Thanks for the help though !

If your specific requirement is a high revving engine and you already like the Duke 200 then I would suggest you get this only. The nature of the Duke which you enjoy will be very difficult to find outside the KTM stable.

It’s not only the engine of these Dukes but also the overall package (light weight, agile etc) which makes them irresistible and irreplaceable. In the 200cc class nothing will come close.

In case you are fine with a higher displacement then the 390 Duke is the ultimate at its price point. It will stay on the heels of a lot of much higher displacement bikes in the hands of a capable rider.

Cheers

Thanks for the advice ! I had another question though. Why didn't you suggest the KTM Duke 250 ?

I've heard that it is not very rev happy like the 200 or the 390. Is that true ?

Since you like quick revving engines and D200, also look at CB300R. They are right inside your budget in the used market.

That was an other option that I looked at actually ! But the issue is servicing can be a problem for me as the closest big wing servicing center is only 10+ km from my house. I've also heard that the pillion seat on the CB300R is pretty uncomfortable.

If I do go for the D200 do you think the new TFT display is important or is it better to go for the used market ?

Thanks so much for your help

All depends on the price you can score the used bike for. If there is a substantial saving compared to a new bike, a TFT screen is not really important, imo. But that's a choice you have to make.

Don't let 10km be a deterrent in considering the Honda as well, honestly. Pillion seats on these sports bikes are mostly useless and only good for sub 10km trips.

Thanks so much for your help bro ! The main issue with 10km is that I live in Bangalore where the weather and traffic is unpredictable Another thing is that the KTM service center is only a kilometer or two from my place.

Thanks anyways

You have shortlisted the Duke 200 yourself plus you say you like fast revving engines - the choice should be obvious under the circumstances. Bike choices are more often than not made with the heart, so go with it. Service being close to home is good to have - advantage KTM again.

Don’t overanalyse - just go out and get the Duke 200

Cheers

Thank you so much for your help my friend !

You have been a great help

I also had another question. I heard that the Duke 250 does not feel like a Duke in the sense that the engine is not as rev happy as the 200 or the 390. Is this true ? If it isn't do you by any chance know why people suggest the 390 or the 200 over the 250 ?

No idea about the 250 but I would suggest the Duke 390 (more than the 200) in the Duke lineup and a new 2024 model if you can make the stretch (I remember your budget) because if you get the 390 you may want to keep the bike for far longer than the 2-3 year period which you have mentioned. This one would be a bike to do it all and worth waiting for if you have budget constraints at the moment.

It’s a beauty of a bike at the price point which has all the safety features you can think of and has more of them than bikes even above the price point. High revving, insane acceleration, agility and a sweet quick-shifter for up and down shifts - you can’t go wrong with this one with the expectations you have. Huge smiles inside your helmet every time you open the throttle. She seems to moving fast even when stationary

Cheers

Hey man, thanks for the help! But the reason I am planning on keeping the bike for 2 or 3 years is because I might move to another country

The 390 is a beautiful machine, and I love it. But it's a little too powerful for me as I am a beginner.

Thanks so much for the help, bro

Re: Best Used Bikes in India for different price ranges

Hey guys! I'm back on my own thread

Sadly my parents are not allowing me to buy a KTM Duke because of it's image in the country. I have tried explaining that this is not true to them, but sadly I could not change their mind.

So I wanted to know a good bike that is about 2 lakh rupees (on road in Bangalore) that is a good balance of fun and practicality.

Options Shortlisted are :-

TVS Apache RTR 200 4V (Heard great things about this bike, seems a bit under-powered compared to my other options and I am worried about the servicing)

Bajaj Pulsar NS200 AND N250 (Mainly worried about the quality of these bikes as I have head that Bajaj bikes age pretty badly. Other than that the NS200 does seem like good fun and the N250 does too. I have heard that the N250 does not feel that stable at higher speeds. Is that true ?)

Another thing I feel like I should mention, since this will be my first motorcycle, should I buy a rev happy bike or should I buy a bike that is more forgiving ? I do ride in a somewhat sedated manner based on the little riding that I have actually done, but I just assume that it is because of a lack of experience. I am worried that I will get bored of my bike after I get some experience which is why I was looking for a balance between practicality and fun.

Please help me decide if these options are good or if I should shortlist any other motorcycles. The N250 seems great but I am only worried about the high speed stability since I plan on going for trips with my friends at least once in a year.

Thank you so much for the help in advance!
