In general, TVS has been slacking in major updates of their bikes and bringing in relevant new models. This take from MotorInc does make a lot of sense. I had an intuition that the top level management doesn't really have an idea about the ground reality. For example, what's stopping them from creating a dual sport or small adv based on the Ronin engine platform to take the sales away from the Xpulse? They have the right pedigree in off-road racing scene and all the engineering might in disposal. They launched Ronin as a confused platform. Remember the extremely overpriced flagship electric scooter?

With the 310 platform, I guess they are held back by the collaboration with BMW to do a complete revamp. BMW usually has really long product cycles. The GS310 and G310R basically stayed the same after all these years.

What off road racing scene? If you're referring to Dakar, didn't they field Sherco make bikes with TVS branding?

Well, if you aren't aware, they've been participating and winning championships in the home racing circuits for decades now, both on and off-road. You should check out their successful off-road racers based on their run of the mill production bikes. If any Indian manufacturer can claim to have genuine racing pedigree, it's TVS. And that's before their recent Dakar success as a partner to Sherco.

Anyway, this discussion is not relevant to the thread and I would like to keep it to the 310s.

I think apart from the winglets the price bump wasn't much necessary, but this is a good deal considering it has gotten more performance and overall kit. People who are hesitant to go for the 390 can now settle peacefully with this 310 IMHO. Let's see how the market responds to it. Perhaps this will always stay a niche product and not a market disruptor.

Re: 2024 TVS Apache RR 310 to be launched on September 16

So, TVS provides a fancy transparent clutch cover for the new RR310. It looked cool in pictures and saw an instagram reel recently with the new clutch cover in action. It was neat like those transparent Ducati dry clutch covers but then it struck me, where is the oil? This is a wet clutch bike and unless I missed the memo there was no mention of a switch to a dry clutch system from TVS. I saw a few videos of transparent covers on wet clutch setups and they all spray oil onto the glass screen when running. So TVS is doing something to fake a dry clutch system and it's cover by creating a separate mechanism outside the normal clutch chamber, just for the looks?
