Ethanol-powered Bajaj Pulsar NS160 showcased at Tech Expo

Bajaj launched the Freedom 125 - the world's first CNG motorcycle earlier this year. Now, during the recently held India Bio-Energy & Tech Expo 2024, the two-wheeler brand showcased an ethanol-powered Pulsar NS160.

The Bajaj Pulsar NS160 showcased is said to be E100 compliant, meaning it can run on 100% ethanol. Reports claim that the flex-fuel Pulsar NS160 will be updated to run on various ratios of petrol and ethanol blend.

However, Bajaj hasn't officially revealed any details of the motorcycle. The standard motorcycle sold in India is E20-compliant and comes powered by a 160cc single-cylinder engine producing 17 BHP and 14.6 Nm.

It also remains to be seen whether or not Bajaj will introduce the ethanol-powered NS160 in the market anytime soon.

Apparently, we will soon have Ethanol fuel pumps across India.

But why would Bajaj create a product even before there is infrastructure on the ground? That's because this product has a ready market in Brazil, which already has numerous Ethanol pumps

Re: Ethanol-powered Bajaj Pulsar NS160 showcased at Tech Expo

In isolation, I tremendously appreciate the Freedom 125 and this E100 P160NS too, despite concerns around engine life and performance/mileage mix of ethanol.
Recently, a lot of innovative products are being launched by Bajaj, but let's be honest, they're going very slow on the premium products.

But by now we should be sitting on a single cylinder high-revver 650 costing around 4L from Bajaj itself.

I'm an old time biker. If you would've asked me in 2011, which domestic company is expected to bring out a mid-capacity twin cylinder first, I'd say Bajaj has the highest and probably Royal Enfield/ Hero Motocorp the lowest.
Turns out, Royal Enfield did it first with Continental GT and Interceptor 650 twins & Bajaj is not even there yet (an imported Ninja 650, expensive, that too from another brand simply doesn't count).

Ask any 35 yr.+ biker, they'd echo almost the same.

I know market matters, but is it this bad a market for a 650 single-cyl. in a good price?
