June 2024: Indian Motorcycle & Scooter Sales Figures & Analysis

NOTES:

1: Thanks to the team at Auto Punditz for sharing these sales numbers with us!

2: Only bikes that sell 500+ units (and thus, the relevant ones) have been included in the gainers & losers chart.

3. These manufacturer-reported sales numbers are factory dispatches to dealerships. They are NOT retail sales figures to end customers.

500+ unit sales of Aprilia RS457 for June is super impressive. Also a big jump from April and May. I hope this trend continues. Would put pressure on Yamaha and Kawasaki to manufacture R3 and Ninja500 in India and price them lower.

Also impressive that Triumph is rock steady at 2000 units every month of Speed+Scrambler.
Mavrick and HD440 sales have been shockingly poor.

Finally a success for Hero. Xtreme 125R has started off to very good reviews and now the numbers are showing as well. There is a scope for gradual increase. It is a very well rounded package in terms of looks, power, build quality, fuel economy and features. After a very long time Hero has managed to achieve good numbers from a non Honda derived model.

Activa and Jupiter should be in the next segment right? As far as I know, they are offered in 110 and 125 cc variants and not in 100-110cc range. Same is applicable for Access as well!

Honda and TVS do not share splits for 110 and 125cc. Surprisingly, Honda does share that for Dio. The Access only comes in 125cc, so that is fine.

its battle where Hero is only defending, and eventually will loose slowly,
Hero's plants to enter others segments (higher CC / EVs / scooters) have not shown desired success, and TVS / Honda / Suzuki are slowly pushing through the low CC segment motorcycle which was the only stronghold of Hero.

The Himalayan is consistently doing ~3000 units a month. Would the Guerilla improve the sales of this platform or eat into it? My guess is it could push it up to ~5k or.more units.

Re: June 2024: Indian Motorcycle & Scooter Sales Figures & Analysis

Looks like people have rejected all the Hero premium models i.e. Karizma & Mavrick.

Both having less than 500 sales, that too on a declining trend.

Let's see for how much time Splendor is going to save them.
