Hero MotoCorp has launched the 2024 Xtreme 160R 4V at a price of Rs 1,38,500 (ex-showroom, Delhi).



The 2024 Xtreme 160R 4V looks identical to the outgoing version. It is now available in a new 'Kevlar Brown' colour and gets a new LED headlamp. The split seat has been replaced with a single-piece unit. It also gets a panic brake feature, which flashes the brake lamp and indicators in case of sudden braking.

The new Xtreme 160R 4V is powered by the same 163.2cc single-cylinder engine as before. This unit produces 16.6 BHP and 14.6 Nm and is paired with a 5-speed gearbox.

The Xtreme 160R is equipped with an upside-down KYB fork at the front and an adjustable monoshock at the rear. The bike rides on 17-inch alloy wheels and is fitted with disc brakes at both ends. The new model also gets dual-channel ABS.

In a span of 4 years the price has gone up by 38k

Initially this was launched at 99.950, the 2v version followed by 4v last year at 127.000

I really loved its looks with the split seat. Looked very sporty and stood out. But the tail lamps were an eyesore and resembled a pig's nose. Now they flipped both. Beautiful tail lamp but split seat is gone

They updated the tail section neatly. Now it looks much better.
For the front, we have not seen much update since its arrival. Guess, Hero might update it with X125R facia. Then, this package will be perfect.

Hero Xtreme 160R 4V Dual Channel ABS 2024:
Initial observations and how I got 18.5k off on the brand new bike.

Purpose and use case of the bike:
The bike has been primarily bought for daily commuting for my father and his occasional use for farming.

Requirement:
He was using 125(Honda&Bajaj) for a decade now and told me get a 160 which has a flat seat for occasional female pillion use and should have light weight with good reliability.

Options considered:
None.Xtreme 160r launched at the same time and fulfilled our requirements considerably.(On a side note-N160 has extremely unfriendly pillion seat, RTR 160 4v is quite dated now and SP 160 is just age old unicorn with new clothes and overall silhouette similar to Sp125 which is a big no)

Booking and delivery:
Booked the bike through Flipkart and HDFC credit card. Got 18.5k off on ex showroom(1.4l). Got the bike in two days and took delivery on 4oct evening.
Total on road 1.67l approx(Ujjain, M.P.) plus considering the deal which I got on Flipkart bought this beast for under 1.5l which is super vfm in my opinion.

Bike's first impression and overview:
Hero actually updated the Xtreme several times over the years as it has been unable to generate the desired sales for the brand.From the past couple of months xtreme is doing about 2k monthly sales, Apache and Pulsar's hover around 30k units.

Xtreme has always been reliable and updates which hero has bought over the year's particularly the 4v about a year ago and now this newly updated version has made it very competitive and in my opinion it now sits at the top of 160s.

Updates on the 2024 model are flat seat(subframe is slightly changed which reduced the pillion seat height), new tail light, brighter instrument console and Dual channel ABS.

Bike has Xtremely good handling and feels quite light on its feet. Engine is very refined till mid range and get's little buzzy at the top end which is expected from a single. Braking is good and the inclusion of dual channel abs is a welcome addition. Suspension are best in class, soaks up bumps pretty well and has a slight sporty edge to it. Seating position is xtremely comfortable with upright posture and a little rear set footpegs.
Fit and finish can be improved but overall satisfied with the build quality.

160r 4v is not a common sight and updated model does look very good and people actually notice it.
Overall me and my father are happy with our purchase and hope to cover many miles on this beauty.

Congratulations. I remember test driving this few years back. What a fun bike it was, very nimble and great handling. I'm happy to see Hero have been updating it regularly getting more power and also Dual channel abs.

Congrats on your purchase. How's the ride after 6months of use? How does the riding posture feel? Is it comfortable?

The bike is running without any issues, done around 3k km. I am 6ft and my father is 5'11 and both of us are comfortable in the saddle. Handle bar is pretty wide and straight up, which is great because whenever I ride my friends N160 it feels very cramped compared to the Xtreme and RTR's footpegs also feels cramped according to our tall height. So that's one of the reasons we chose the Xtreme as commuter for my father, other being its light weight and comfortable seating for both rider and pillion alike in the updated model.
