Royal Enfield to launch updated Classic 350 next month

According to a media report, Royal Enfield is working on an updated version of the Classic 350, and it could be launched as early as next month.

The Classic 350 is expected to be offered in multiple variants, with the lower variant getting a rear drum brake. The bike could get an LED headlamp with pilot lamps as standard and an LED taillight.

The updated Classic 350 will be mechanically identical to the outgoing model. It will be powered by the same 349cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine. This engine produces 20.2 BHP @ 6,100 rpm and 27 Nm @ 4,000 rpm and is paired with a 5-speed gearbox.

The Classic 350 has been facing some serious competition from rivals like Honda, Triumph, Harley-Davidson and Classic Legends. The latest update will certainly help keep the product fresh.

Re: Royal Enfield to launch updated Classic 350 next month

Nah, don’t do LED lights please! I like the RE Classic 350 primarily because it is such a dedicated retro motorcycle. I agree that LEDs are the flavour of the decade, but it is the halogen lights which lend the Classic its... well, classic look.

But hey, that’s just me . In my opinion, if RE does LED lights for the Classic, they should spare the Bullet alone. This way, greater distinction can be achieved between the two.

Re: Royal Enfield to launch updated Classic 350 next month

RE Don't over-modernize a Classic. Do some cost cutting, because for this power even drum brakes are good, but the price is high. But other than that, leave these LED and stuff to the guys who fancy modding their rides please.
The ergonomics of the bike were always good and the best compliment comes when, Honda copies the Classic

Re: Royal Enfield to launch updated Classic 350 next month

As the Reborn is RE’s bread and butter product, I believe this is nothing but a model year change to keep the product fresh in the minds of potential buyers. I am not expecting anything more than a new set of colours, which is all that the bike needs in my opinion, as it is a pretty well sorted product.

Re: Royal Enfield to launch updated Classic 350 next month

Are there any updates to the seats too? The standard has been much touted as being comfortable with extra cushioning. That is the case in my experience, except that the front part where it tapers off is a but elevated. This creates discomfort within a few score kilometres.
I went back into the RE accessories page a few days ago and noticed that they are now offering the old style stepped seat as an option to the main seat.
Is that any good?

The 2024 Classic 350 is expected to be offered in fresh new colour schemes. Besides cosmetic updates, the bike could get an LED headlamp with pilot lamps and an LED taillight. It might also get updated switchgear similar to other models in the brand’s line-up.

The Classic 350 will be powered by the familiar 349cc, single-cylinder engine. This engine produces 20.2 BHP @ 6,100 rpm and 27 Nm @ 4,000 rpm and is paired with a 5-speed gearbox. The bike will come in multiple variants, with single and dual-channel ABS.

Re: Royal Enfield to launch updated Classic 350 next month

Hello,
Any idea, if at all RE is going to launch the Classic 650 or Bullet 650. I am eagerly waiting to upgrade from my 2014 RE CL 500. Its just that these 2 models of RE give me the perfect riding position and of course with the full length gear shifter(for upshifting from heel). Any useful information will help me plan my upgrade.
Thanks in advance.

Some people are saying that Classic 650 will be launched in the Motoverse in Nov'24, others say that it will be the Bear 650, in which case expect the Classic 650 sometime in the first half of '25. I personally think that C650 being the most important 650 for RE, this will be launched with a big bang in the Motoverse.

All you will get is the facelift of the current Classic 350 reborn, press release is clear '350'. Classic 650 I doubt will be coupled here.

In Classic 350 facelift you may expect new color scheme, LED headlight, may get the digital speedo (at max) and that's all i expect.

Re: Royal Enfield to launch updated Classic 350 next month

New RE Classic 350 details leaked ahead of launch on 12th August 2024!

Source: Autocar Professional

Quote:
The updated Classic 350 line-up will have 5 variants - Heritage, Heritage Premium, Signals, Dark and the top-spec Classic Chrome. Just like it is now, we expect the Classic 350 to have a rear drum brake on the lower variants for a more affordable entry point. Another thing that will continue is the Dark is the only variant to get alloy wheels and tubeless tyres and these wheels will be available as optional extras on the other four variants.

Coming to the feature additions, the biggest and perhaps most polarising one is the move to LED lighting we had reported about previously. The pilot lamps, headlight and tail lamp will be LED on all variants, while the higher Dark and Chrome variants also get LED indicators - an accessory on the other variants.

The Classic 350 Dark and Chrome variants will also come standard with adjustable levers, which will be an optional extra on the lower ones. What will be standard on all variants is the gear position indicator on the display - an addition that we have been asking for since this display debuted in the J-platform Classic 350 in 2021. All variants of the updated Classic 350 line-up will come standard with a USB-C charger.

The current Classic 350 range starts at Rs 1.93 lakh and goes up to Rs 2.25 lakh (ex-showroom, Chennai). It remains to be seen if prices will go up given the increasing competition to Royal Enfield’s bestselling bike.

Re: Royal Enfield to launch updated Classic 350 next month

Given that this is more of a cosmetic update, when should we expect a bigger update?
Where do you think RE will head with the second iteration of the J-series for the Bullet and Classic 350 engines?
Are we looking at one or two years, or more before they release the second J-series?
Thanks.

I wouldn't hold my breath. Once RE develop an engine, I feel like most of their attention and resources go towards development of new models on that platform, with maybe minor incremental updates on the basis of service/user feedback or government regulation changes. Don't expect any radical changes to the 350cc engines, at least for this generation.

Case in point- look at the 650cc engine- they have remained the same since their inception in 2018. And with good reason- why fix something that isn't broken? Same with the 350s, which are almost universally lauded for their improved refinement coupled with their 'charm'. RE now have something for everyone- want old-school? Pick the 350. Want a twin, or something more substantial? Go for the 650s. Want a more modern, high-revving experience on a lighter platform? 450 it is. They have no reason to change anything, and probably shouldn't either.

The only whispers of a new engine platform are the ones we hear of the 440cc air-cooled one, which will be a larger version of the existing 411. Time will tell when that comes and how it'll fit into their current product range.

Re: Royal Enfield to launch updated Classic 350 next month

Looks like they didn't add aluminium switch cubes as they did in Meteor 350. Bummer. The tripper navigation screen could also have switchable RPM meter where with a touch of button you switch b/w either navigation or RPM screen.
