Royal Enfield's 250cc bike could arrive by 2026-27

According to a media report, Royal Enfield is working on a brand-new 250cc engine platform. Codenamed 'V', the first 250cc bike based on this platform could debut around 2026-27.

The report states that Royal Enfield had been evaluating a smaller 250cc bike for several years but only received the go-ahead for it recently. It will be positioned below the 350cc range, offering a more affordable alternative to customers.

Technical details of the new V platform are still unclear. However, reports state that it is likely to use a simple air-cooled unit, unlike the more recent liquid-cooled 450cc engine from Royal Enfield.

Reports also suggest Royal Enfield is exploring other powertrain options like hybrids. While the bike maker is evaluating hybrid options for its new 250cc engine, it has been described as an "engineering exercise", which may or may not reach the production stage.

Was this move really needed? I feel this sways away from the ethos of the brand. The Hunter was a masterstroke by RE to introduce their motorcycles at a lower price point. This move is unnecessary IMO.

Oh no! This is bad.
RE is king in the heavy weight touring and adventure category in India. They should move to bigger bikes and touring EV motorcycle.

Venturing into light motorcycle is like going backwards, this may hurt the brand and the fan following as well.

We know RE did have smaller bikes in the early days, but that was a different time. Now RE is known for machismo.

Wrong move. They have moved the benchmark to 450 CC and 650 CC and should only move ahead in size I feel. Go Upwards and beyond.

I am still unable to digest this news. What is RE trying to achive with a 250cc.
- Light weight
- Fast and Agile
- Tour + City
- Attract young crowd.

Compete with KTM?
I'll hate to see RE become a ****** brand.
That's exactly what KTM is trying hard to leave behind.

Happy to see Royal Enfield coming up with Bullet 250 CC bike, it will be more of a sight to see them launching Bullet 150 CC and Bullet 100 CC bikes.
It will be affordable and fuel efficient, more sales numbers, increased revenue, large customer base etc.
