Honda’s BigWing dealerships also sell models like the CB350RS, NX500, XL 750 Transalp, Africa Twin and the Gold Wing. The change in product positioning could help boost sales at BigWing dealerships.

The Honda Hornet 2.0 and CB200X share the same underpinnings. The Hornet 2.0 is a street bike, while the CB200X is an ADV, featuring a tall windscreen, knuckle guards and a belly pan.

Interesting news but very confusing at the same time. Does that mean people can buy these motorcycle from Big Wing as well as small wing (pun intended) showrooms? Or are they available only via Big Wing showrooms?

How to make an ordinary bike " premium" ?
Ans: Use paddock stand even when it has center stand.

Re: Honda Hornet 2.0, CB200X now retails via BigWing dealerships

Had booked a Hornet 2.0 back in Feb. The Repsol edition. Dealer called a week ago to say only one was left in stock.

I am waiting to see if they'll get dual channel ABS in both of the bikes.

Bike has enough power and the added safety of dual ABS along with slipper clutch will complete the bike, IMHO

Can increase price by a few thousand to cover the cost of it, if it comes to that.

Thankfully both the dealership is owned by the same group. Won't have to cancel the booking I hope.

Slightly off topic, but why would anyone buy the Hornet when the CB300F costs only 30k more?

That is the problem when you do not have a strategy and a roadmap. Bigwing dealers have big showrooms and no bikes to sell, so honda had to send these bikes there. Normal dealers will cry hoarse now saying that this is volume game and should be with them.

Honda get your good bikes to India and make them available year round, such competent products and such bad strategy. NX500 launch ended up being another farce, Africa twin is no where to be seen, Fireblades are extinct in India.

Just rename Bigwing to Smallwing and let them sell all the bikes in portolio with other dealers.

Looks like someone at Honda took this "Inspiration" from Maruti Suzuki-NEXA branding, Don't have a premium product? No problem! Take a mass product like the Ciaz-put it in the premium showroom and voila!-premium product.

C'mon Honda its about time you bring in better premium bikes to sell via this channel!

Re: Honda Hornet 2.0, CB200X now retails via BigWing dealerships

I believe this is an exercise to increase visibility of the Honda Big Wing dealerships.

In a tier 2 or 3 city, a Big Wing dealerships with just 300+cc products cannot run. If they add the 200cc motorcycles, volumes are higher, hence more profitability for the dealer. Also, 200cc customers may decide to upgrade to a 300+cc at the dealership.

Not sure how this exercise will help in metros though.

Center stand could be damaging their floor But even way back in October Id seen the 200x, and was intrigued by its bash-plate design which could work on the 500X with little modification, I thought

I think most if not all Bigwing dealerships are owned by existing Redwing dealers. So it shouldn't matter which showroom they sell the bikes from.
An advantage of selling the smaller bikes in Bigwing is the increased footfall and visibility, not to mention upselling.

On the other hand, the premium experience expected from a Bigwing dealer may be affected if volumes increase.

Considering the sales this could be a move to upsell the CB300F to potential Hornet buyers.

I had asked the same question to my cousin when he bought Hornet 160 in 2017 for ₹ 1 lakh on road, when much better bikes like RTR200 and NS200 were available for just ₹10-15k more. The answer is fuel efficiency. Hornet, be it 160 or 180 (2.0), offer decent perfromance and 50-55 kpl FE. Hornet 2.0 / CB200X gives the same FE as 150-160cc's, while offering nearly same 0-80 performance as other 200cc's. And Honda's age well, really well. My cousin's Hornet 160 has done well over a lakh kms without any special care.

What you said is true when comparing Honda with other manufacturers. But we're talking about Honda's own CB300F. It's a better bike than the Hornet in all possible aspects other than of course FE. They even look similar.
