Piaggio has launched the limited-edition Vespa 946 Dragon in India. The scooter will be imported as a completely built unit (CBU) and is priced at Rs 14.28 lakh (ex-showroom).



The Vespa 946 Dragon was introduced to celebrate the Lunar New Year. It features a special dragon livery in the shade of emerald.



The scooter is offered with an exclusive Varsity Jacket inspired by the Vespa 946 Dragon’s design. It has ribbed wool and Nappa leather sleeves with a dragon motif in emerald green and prints and embroideries on the left pocket and back panel.



The scooter is based on a metal monocoque body suspended by a single leading-link shock upfront and rides on 12-inch wheels. It is powered by a 150cc engine.

I don't understand Vespa India's logic for such launches. Who will buy a 14L vespa 150, that too based on Lunar New Year, in India?

But they have done this quite a few times earlier- launch special edition CBU models at astronomical prices. Few years back they had launched the 946 Emporio Armani Edition for 12L, and earlier this year the Justin Bieber edition for 6.5L.

Already the service centers have issues with spare part stocks, these CBU units will have much more difficulty for servicing. Vespa should get their 300cc models here, that could add a bit to the sales volumes.

I was patiently reading the first post, hoping to find something that justifies the 14L price tag. Like a powerful engine, that makes this one stand out from the regular. But all I found was the dragon jacket

Ajay Raghuvanshi (EVP) should avoid snakes at all cost. The poison can definitely affect the brain and result in making catastrophic decisions.
Hand-crafted in Italy dragon might be another analogy for over engineered Skoda logic he is not able to let go from his previous job. Good luck with the edibles. I mean collectables.
