Re: Aprilia RS 457 Ownership Thread

My friend shared this with me. Might be helpful in case someone faces this issue.
Apparently 10-15% of the units have battery drain problem when bike is kept unused for a few days.
Faulty RR unit was the culprit and the issue was resolved by Aprilia after replacing the RR unit free of cost.

Re: Aprilia RS 457 Ownership Thread

Thoughts about touring on the Aprilia RS457. Prior to the RS457 I had been using a 2013 KTM Duke 390, which I rode extensively for over one lakh kms before letting it go. Touring, trackdays, daily commutes it did it all. Having owned only sport nakeds in the past, I was apprehensive of the Aprilia's sportier riding position and whether it'll be as versatile as the KTM 390 Duke. Having ridden the Aprilia for over 1500 kms, I could say it's definitely not as versatile as the 390 in being a jack of all trades, but it does have it's advantages. The engine especially for touring and riding backroads is a gem, it's flexibility and low end torque makes it much easier to ride than the BS3 390 Duke. The riding position can get a bit taxing after an hour on the saddle for me, but I'm fixing that by taking more breaks & anchoring myself better on the bike by holding the tank (might need tank grips as the tank is smooth and I tend to slip forward under braking). Overall I feel even the RS457 can be a good tourer, it's a matter of getting used to it. Sharing some photos of a ride to a temple atop a hill (Bettada Byratarayana) close to the Karnataka-Andhra Pradesh border. The trip was around 300kms from Bangalore, which was very much enjoyable on the RS457. Aprilia RS 457 Ownership Thread-20240929_084349.jpg

Looks so sick in both these colors. I wish aprilia gave us a choice of putting the black wheels on the white color scheme as well. I am rooting to get this bike in the future. Can't wait to upgrade

You're right, both the color schemes look stunning. I opted for the opalescent light color scheme as it's white and red color combo would pay homage to my much loved 2013 KTM 390 Duke.

Suavely distinguished between both the motorcycles! Would be interesting to know your sincere ownership review of the BS3 390 -- primarily, not everyone would attest to the fact that the older gen 390 had a better pillion seat than the RS457 and since you'd clocked more than 1 lakh KMS on the 390, would mean myriad of experiences, pain and pleasure points and the amalgamation of everything, would love to hear your detailed experience thus far till the last day of the ownership of your 390.

The touchpoints I'd be happy if you could elaborate upon would be, engine reliability (overhaul if carried) stock clutch life, overall a report card on the engine thus far and the overall form factor as a bike with its stock parts and KMs that it lasted. Lastly, your journeys both short and long that made it the best of the both worlds.

In the right thought to not hijack this thread, if you'd like to elaborate upon your review of your ex-flame, the 390, would srecommend you to do so in the following thread, which would mean it gets the views it deserves. Sincerely would recommend you to do so.

https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/motor...hread-441.html (The KTM Duke 390 Ownership Experience Thread)

Regarding the left pulling issue, it seems this along with the faulty RR has been plaguing the first-takers. Recommend you to check the tire pressure and try this on a perfectly level road with pillion. If the bike trues straight with a pillion, the problem is with your suspension and wheel alignment. If it pulls worse with a pillion, then there is definitely a rear to front wheel tracking issue -- these are from my experiences, but it's worth considering them with a pinch of salt.

Congratulations on your RS457, it's a cracker of a bike, and the aural pleasure it coveys is simply unmatched.

Cheers!

Re: Aprilia RS 457 Ownership Thread

I'm finding the on screen navigation using the Aprilia app not very helpful as there seems to be a lag in the navigation which is causing me to miss turns. Did anyone else also face this issue? I got this BBG phone mount which I was able to fix to the right side clip-on perfectly well and mount the phone. It's sturdy and proven useful so far!
Thanks,
JS

Re: Aprilia RS 457 Ownership Thread

Since no crash protection was available for the RS457 as stock, I went ahead an got the RK Tech parts frame sliders installed. I found them to be well engineered and sturdy with a two point mounting on the frame. Fixing this required removal of the layered fairing panels, which is a lot of effort. The work was done satisfactorily by Motorrad Theory, Bangalore.

True man, the aluminium twin spar frame is a work of art. Maybe when the Tuono 457 comes, it will be exposed in all its glory.

Thanks,

The app navigation is extremely unreliable. The core issue I diagnosed is that the location on the app fails to update as often as it should, resulting in that same bit of information being displayed on the screen. I've tried deleting the cache, reinstalling the app, different permission combinations and trying different SIMs to connect to the internet, still didn't fix the issue. But the weird thing was that it worked perfectly fine for me during the initial days. In fact, it was so good back then that I thought I'd never need a phone mount for navigation purposes.

Got to know from a source in Aprilia that the Tuono is planned for March '25. Can't give a solid confirmation though.
