Re: Royal Enfield Himalayan-based Guerrilla 450

I would pick this over the Himalayan 450 for the following reasons:

1) Shorter wheel base(1440 mm): Makes it nimble and city friendly.
2) Lower weight(185 kg): With half a tank of fuel, it's somewhere at 180 kg mark which makes it easy to manage.
3) Lower seat height(780 mm): Comfortable height for anyone.
4) Smaller fuel tank: Makes it less top heavy. My Himalayan 450 gives me 32 kmpl on highways and 30 in the city. Hence the guerilla being the lesser weight counter part will give 35 kmpl on highways and 32 in the city. Effective range for a 11 litre fuel tank: 385-352 kilometres.

Re: Royal Enfield Himalayan-based Guerrilla 450

Their website seems up.
https://www.royalenfield.com/in/en/m...guerrilla-450/

One of noticeable feature I see is choice of instruments cluster. Analogue or Digital. This would give some relief to people who are not comfortable with Himalayan cluster.

Can anybody tell if the chassis is also reused from Himalayan 450 or this is a different one?

Received a message from Kwality Mobikes via WhatsApp that Guerrilla 450 bookings are open.

I thought the same, I guess the Himalayans tank would be a direct fit for people who would really want a bigger tank.

Those tyres are versys 650 size tyres. Does that mean Ceat have started making these sizes in India. If the speed and load rating are the same, the versys guys have a cheaper option.

Re: Royal Enfield Himalayan-based Guerrilla 450

This is probably the only RE bike with not so good looking (I'm being polite) colour schemes. The yellow and black one looks atrocious with that purple branding.

Re: Royal Enfield Himalayan-based Guerrilla 450

The bike looks strange. With the leaks we always expect final shape to be different , but this is straight up a chonky hunter. I was hoping for it to be a more Scram inspired design. However, considering the ex showroom price range, we can assume 2.9-3.2 OTR BLR, which means this would undercut several competitors in the 400CC segment except the NS400Z. Time will tell if this is accepted or shunned.
the modern RE customer is spoilt for choice .

As per this motorbeam Youtube video, the chassis is different. You can hear him say from 1:00 onward.

Re: Royal Enfield Himalayan-based Guerrilla 450

In some of the above bikes fitted with an engine guard, aren't they using the same engine/frame bolt for mounting which they deemed was the culprit for the frame cracks in the Himalayan?
Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Re: Royal Enfield Himalayan-based Guerrilla 450

I really like the way the Guerilla looks. I like the Hunter's looks too but it's underpowered. The Guerilla should fix that.

But the name may be a mistake. Guerilla will become "Gorilla" or something funny like that. In Kannada, it could be pronounced as "gear illa" meaning "no gears"!

As a bike, what interests me are these:

Wheelbase:
1440 mm. This is 70 mm more than the Hunter. Good for stability but slow to turn. I am afraid this might make the Guerilla not so fun in the city traffic. Only a good test ride will confirm or disprove this.

Weight
190 kg fully equipped is better than the Himalayan so this is good.

Tyres
The fat tyres look good but the sizes are unique to the Guerilla. This means that you will be stuck with the OE tyres if your budget is limited. Foreign-made tyres are expensive and hard to source.

Tank capacity of 11 litres
This should give a range of about 300 km. I think it's acceptable for a lifestyle bike that's not focused on touring.

Suspension
I am disappointed with the ordinary fork compared to the Showa on the Himalayan. But I hope the performance is better than ordinary.

I hope test ride bikes are available by this weekend.

Re: Royal Enfield Himalayan-based Guerrilla 450

Well RE has done a half baked job here!

I don't know why but the Guerrilla's design doesn't seem cohesive to me.

Plus usual RE engineering traits, they should have reduced the weight while keeping the fuel tank as big as possible but it is other way round.

11 litres fuel tank with e20 fuel compatibility is borderline not acceptable. Effectively you have to stop around 200kms for refueling. Also it is not that the smaller thank is helping with the aesthetics also.Plus why can't they choose to have a different headlight. All their bikes having a round headlight doesn't seem to differentiate a 350 from a 650's front or having a youthful appeal for the 450 buyers.

On the plus side the 120/160 tyre choices are a welcome addition, will give bike that macho look that many people want in this segment.
Prices seems reasonable, we can't expect every manufacture to be as frugal as Bajaj.

According to me RE should have scrambler on this 450 platform with 19/17 alloys wheel combo keeping the suspension as close to Himalayan 450 , while keeping the weight in check but RE being RE will not give us that!!!

Re: Royal Enfield Himalayan-based Guerrilla 450

This time around they have mentioned weight-bearing capacity at 350 odd kilos, right up there on the frame itself. It was in one review. RE is making doubly sure they are covered if it snaps.

The front suspension is Showa I read somewhere, but not USD

The colours don't excite me, just one plain jane single colour silver, on an entry-level machine with trip meter, is acceptable.

Re: Royal Enfield Himalayan-based Guerrilla 450

Price is really, really competitive! I thought top end would touch 2.75 but RE seems to have understood the game. Classic 350 was falling short of Speed 400 despite being completely a different segment product all together! RE v/s Triumph is a win for the consumers.

Also, any comparisons made with either the Hunter or the Himalayan makes no sense. Hunter is entirely a different breed whereas Himalayan is pure adv. Scram 411 was very Himalayan-esque but this feels a different product all together. Eagerly waiting for drive reviews to come up.

The Triumph's a vfm if they continue doing this. Plus at this price, they can differentiate from RE as well. Want colour lcd and more stuff? -pay more and get the RE.
If Triumph plans to increase the price, they will have to match the guerilla at least specs-wise and then use their brand image. Won't be that hard for the next model year Speed 400, considering (as long as!) Bajaj is involved.
