Scoop! Mystery bike spotted testing; Can you help us identify it?

A camouflaged prototype of an upcoming motorcycle was recently spotted testing near Ahmedabad. Any guesses on what it might be?

The test bike has a compact headlamp with a small beak, a muscular fuel tank with tank extensions and a 2-piece seat. The dual LED taillights seen in one of the images remind us of those on the Bajaj Pulsar range.

The spy images clearly indicate that this motorcycle is powered by a single-cylinder air-cooled engine. The test bike appears to be equipped with an upside-down fork with mono-shock suspension at the rear and black alloy wheels. It is fitted with at least a front disc brake.

Other details worth mentioning are the front crash guard, a saree guard and a rear tyre hugger.

The hugger is pure Pulsar NS.

Cheers, Doc

Re: Scoop! Mystery bike spotted testing; Can you help us identify it?

One look at that tail lamp screamed Pulsar.

Air Cooled engine could be a 250 or a 160. The tyre width seems to suggest a 160.
The presence of the kick-starter completely gives it away as something that is not a 250.

Seat position and tank shape seems to indicate a bike with off-road aspirations but wheel size front and back seem to be consistent so both must be 17 inchers. Meaning off road looks but not credentials.

My Prediction: It is a Pulsar A160. The competitor to the Honda CB Hornet 200x (if it still exists).

It's 100% a Pulsar but what capacity not sure. The engine casing shows it to be a Bajaj engine, not a KTM derived one. So either a 150, 160, or 250cc engine but it seems to be an underbelly exhaust probably a 150 or 160cc bike.

Maybe an upcoming ADV version of the Pulsar, based on the tank seat extension. Can also be some CNG derivative. The tank part looks weird for a commuter.

This could be a Bajaj premium 125-150 to fight against the likes of new Hero Xtreme 125r or Raider. The tyre size and kicker tells me it is a smaller capacity bike. Forks look like regular ones and not USDs with a camo cover over them. Notice the matte black lower fork legs. Wheels look like it came off an N150.

The temporary plate from OEM reads MHE. Hence, Maharashtra based! It has reached Ahmedabad as a test mule. The taillights and number plates that need to be displayed without concealing provides enough clues. All guesses in the trailing posts should be right.

Twin sparkplugs if any, have also been concealed.

Actually the 2024 N150 and N160 comes just with a Single Spark Plug.

Definitely a Bajaj (that silver steering column race bolt). It has a speedometer wire and the front master cylinder looks connected to rear brake = so, 125 cc max. Probable answer to the Xtreme 125R. It is the engine that looks very different, might be new.

This could be a facelift or an adventure version of Pulsar NS200.

Pulsar ADV version. My totally speculative guess is there will be multiple offerings - 200/400 NS, 200/400F, and 200/400 adv.

Re: Scoop! Mystery bike spotted testing; Can you help us identify it?

It's a Bajaj Pulsar for sure. But what's interesting is that the engine of this test mule (externally) differs from any of the Pulsar's currently on sale.

It's clearly not the gen 1 Pulsar engine and not the newer N series engine either. It lacks corrugated fins, so it it does not belong to the NS125, 160, AS150 family of engines. It does not bear any resemblance to the Discover 2v/4v engines also. Who knows, it maybe another all new engine from Bajaj : )

My guess is that it's the second coming of the Pulsar AS series. When AS200 & 150 were discontinued in 2017, Bajaj had stated that the AS series would return as more 'purposeful motorcycles' in the future. So this maybe it, but still road oriented with longer travel suspension and stuff.

Bajaj Pulsar, looking at Tire width, i don't think this is NS400 - something smaller
