Royal Enfield Bullet 650 spotted testing for the first time

Looks like it will have multiple versions. This one seems to be the Bullet 650 with a single seat and raised rear fender.

Im liking what I'm seeing :-)

Re: Royal Enfield Bullet 650 spotted testing for the first time

Is this for the family-1st uncle (me!) who needs to convince family can sit in back, 1 kid in between us and one on the tank?

Is this the 1st two wheeler testing ever with 2 people (at least on Tbhp)? That visual made me think may be RE is serious about the family wala sales pitch.

Shotgun650, Classic650 and the Bullet650....Wonder how these are going to be different other than paint jobs and seat designs etc?

Re: Royal Enfield Bullet 650 spotted testing for the first time

Without the signature pin stripping it looks like an Electra to me. Whatever it is, RE should consider a wider seating arrangement at rear.

Re: Royal Enfield Bullet 650 spotted testing for the first time

I have a feeling RE has a crazy amount of these 650cc engines ready for use and no idea what to do with them.

So every weekend there is a competition and a "new" bike is launched every few weeks.

Re: Royal Enfield Bullet 650 spotted testing for the first time

If you observe closely, there are 2 different frames/chassis doing the duties on the 650 twin platform:

Double cradle frame
- Interceptor 650
- Continental GT 650
- Scrambler 650 - USD forks, 2x1 Exhaust - spied

Engine as stressed member
- Super Meteor 650
- Shotgun 650
- Classic 650 - this is based on the SG650 seat pattern
- Bullet 650 - one piece thicker seat on boxy rear mudguard

RE is also playing with the wheel sizes, 19, 18, 17, 16 inchers! I wonder how will they keep up with the inventory for all the bikes.

SG650 & SM650 prices already overlap and with the future products squeezing in between the INT650 (lowest) and SM650 (highest), it'll be very confusing. RE is getting a lot of inspiration from Bajaj it seems, in having competition in the showroom itself! Why wait for competition from others?

Happy riding,

Re: Royal Enfield Bullet 650 spotted testing for the first time

I think its going to be the first 650 with comfortable ergos. For both rider and pillion.
  • Interceptor has a weird lean-forward without setback footpegs. And its worse for the pillion.
  • Super Meteor, well, is a cruiser with forward controls.
  • Shotgun is a quite a squat posture.
  • Continental, forget about ergos. It is a cafe racer stance.
For this reason I've been looking forward to Classic/Bullet 650. They've been launching everything except this one.

I wish they had reserved the Bullet name for 650. The Classic 350 is almost the same bike as the Bullet 350.

Re: Royal Enfield Bullet 650 spotted testing for the first time

The folks despising RE for using the tried and tested 650 mills across different models should realize that it is a common practice amongst all bike brands to use their higher capacity engines across different models, which includes BMW, Harley, Kawasaki, Yamaha, Suzuki, Indian, Aprilia, Ducati, and KTM. I think Indian motorcyclists are spoiled with the different lower cc engine options that come every year, which I believe are easier to R&D -> develop -> bring to market, compared to higher cc mills.

Coming back to RE, at least here in the West, the 270-deg crank 650cc engine is considered very charming and loved by everyone, specifically for its application in RE's retro bike.

Royal Enfield files ‘Bullet 650 Twin’ trademark

Royal Enfield has filed a trademark application for the ‘Bullet 650 Twin’ nametag.

According to the official trademarks portal, the application was filed on July 26, and its current status shows “Formalities Chk Pass”.

Prototypes of the upcoming Bullet 650 Twin have been spotted testing in India since March this year. It features a round headlamp with the signature position lamps on either side, a teardrop-shaped fuel tank, a single-piece seat and dual exhausts.

The Bullet 650 Twin will be powered by the familiar 650cc twin-cylinder engine that produces 47 BHP and 52 Nm. The engine is likely to be paired with a 6-speed gearbox.

Besides the Bullet 650 Twin, Royal Enfield is also working on the Himalayan 650. The ADV was recently spotted testing in Chennai for the first time.

By Bullet 650, do we mean standard 650 or classic 650. The Standard line is also approaching the centenary.

Re: Royal Enfield Bullet 650 spotted testing for the first time

Would this be priced cheaper than the Interceptor 650? It would make more sense for it to be the entry level 650 twin.

From all the points I can observe, it is almost certainly a good option.

The foot pegs, the exhaust pipe location seem like a proper upright motorcycle.

Hopefully the ride quality will not be too hard.
