Hero MotoCorp has launched the Mavrick 440 in India. The bike is available in three variants – Base, Mid and Top, with prices starting at Rs 1.99 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Mavrick 440 was unveiled at Hero World 2024. It is a naked street bike which shares its underpinnings with the Harley-Davidson X440.

The Mavrick 440 features a circular LED headlamp with an H-shaped LED DRL, bar-end mirrors and a single-piece seat with a short tail section. The bike is equipped with a digital instrument cluster offering Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, call and message alerts and a USB-C charging port.

The Mavrick 440 is powered by the same 440cc single-cylinder engine as the Harley-Davidson X440. This engine produces 27 BHP and 36 Nm and is paired with a 6-speed gearbox via an assist and slipper clutch.

Bookings for the Mavrick 440 are now open and deliveries will commence in April 2024. Customers who pre-book the bike before March 15 will get a customized ‘Mavrick Kit’ of accessories and merchandise worth Rs 10,000.

Hero Mavrick 440 ex-showroom prices:

  • Base - Rs 1.99 lakh
  • Mid - Rs 2.14 lakh
  • Top - Rs 2.24 lakh

Good for Hero making inroads into higher segments. Now Karizma is not the flagship model for Hero. The side profile reminds me of Mahindra Mojo. With a Saddle height of 803mm hope many riders will be able to Flat foot while handling the Bike, pricing is excellent for a 440cc Engine which is right in the 250cc to 400cc Engines range. The competition is really heating up. I wish Hero all the success with this one.

This design looks very 2000s-ish with the faded silver grab handles and plastic panels on the tank. Hero should have simply plonked this engine into the Karizma when it was launched and they could've turned a new leaf.

The bike weighs 191kg? I guess in a market used to overweight and underpowered RE bikes (and their clones), anything goes.

Is it just me or does anyone else find the spoke wheels very appealing for this design? They seem to add character and dare I say, retro look to the bike.

Hero did keep the price in check as expected. I, for one, feel that they are going in the right direction with their portfolio. Now it's time for the market to give verdict.

Hero has priced it well considering all classics/roadsters fall in the same price bracket giving more options to consumers.

Re: Hero Mavrick 440 launched at Rs 1.99 lakh

It's good to see Hero enter the 250+cc segment, even if it's a weak effort.

No USD Forks, no Monoshock, no Alloys, 191kg!

This bike could sell well with good marketing. Some people find KTMs too intimidating (because of their power or image) and this could be a good alternative that offers a 400cc+ engine from a reliable brand other than Royal Enfield.

However, Royal Enfield has raised the bar with its new Sherpa 452cc engine, which will power a range of products. This bike will have to compete with a whole army of Royal Enfield models. And then there is the resurging Husqvarna that offers a different flavour to the KTMs.

On the bright side, this bike might have some practical value for the family-oriented buyer, but the real test is how it all translates on real roads in the real world.

27 bhp from a 440cc single? What exactly are they doing with all those CC's? Otherwise the bikes looks really good in a really organic way

Re: Hero Mavrick 440 launched at Rs 1.99 lakh

Everything looks good, except the weight. This is where the CB300R blows everything else out of the water. Speed 400 slots in neatly between both, and you also have the Apache RTR 310/Duke 250 with a few extra features and more top-end power than the 440. This is of course in addition to all the REs and Honda CBs, and the upcoming Pulsar 400. Wish Classic Legends gets their act together too. Lots of options for folks now in this category, can't believe barely 2 years ago we had nothing but the FZ25 and Gixxer 250 to choose from apart from the long stroke 350s and KTMs.

Another example of a company benchmarking their product against RE, but I mean this in a good way since customers get more options.

While I often find myself criticizing Hero for their ++ editions, I must give credit where it's due.
Remember when Royal Enfield managed to squeeze out a mere 19BHP from their 350CC engines?
There was hardly a whisper of criticism. Yet, here we are, bashing Hero for introducing a decent bike.

The weight reminds me of Bajaj Dominar and I believe it still is marginally lighter than Mavrick.

Waiting for reviews and seems a option, which has to be picked only due to price and availability across multiple outlets across the country (vs. Triumph and KTM)

Re: Hero Mavrick 440 launched at Rs 1.99 lakh

IMHO, the bike looks tad small for a 400+ CC bike. Maybe due to the low set headlight cluster. Other than that, bike looks good and seems Hero has done the pricing
well. Good luck Hero, should sell in good numbers. I am a prospective customer and waiting for test ride to begin to see if this fits my requirement.

Re: Hero Mavrick 440 launched at Rs 1.99 lakh

Good pricing. I wish the white color was available for mid and top variant too. Because it looks the best IMO but spoke tube wheel on it makes no sense when tubeless alloys are available on mid/top variant.

The segment between 2L to 3L (on road cost) is so competitive now. But I wonder if many would go for this over the Speed400 and CB300R which aren't priced much higher than Maverick. Because when we look at ~190 kgs and 440cc engine, the 27 bhp figure looks weak on paper.

Re: Hero Mavrick 440 launched at Rs 1.99 lakh

I like the design and red variant looks great.
power to weight ratio is not great compared to others in the segment excluding the REs.

Alloys with tubeless tires are there in the mid and top variant. I don't think the top variant is worth 25K over the base.
I have a feeling this is not exactly going to set the charts on fire. Speed 400 at 34k+ looks like a better buy.
