Indian RD never came with CDI installed, the last bikes had TCI ignition based on the existing Kokusan Denki Platform. The oil pump won't pump oil when the bike is not running so most probably oil seals are shot. You need to find a competitive mechanic first at your place .

Good to see your RD looking as pristine as ever Justin. Your penchant for collecting period correct stuff for the Rd simply boggles the mind.

Happy the legend sharing road space with the current legends like the s1000RR

Thank you. Glad you liked it. The credit for the color selection goes to Sajeev, it was his brilliant choice.

Thank you so much. Keeping the RD period correct has always been a passion, and happy to see it appreciated.

Even after 50 years since its inception, the RD still doesn’t look out of place alongside modern superbikes like the BMW S1000RR. That itself speaks volumes about why it’s one of the greatest ever!

My RD got featured in a UK-based Well-a 'RD magazine by the Aircooled RD Community – a quarterly publication created by the community for its members. Here is the scanned Copy.

Just get rid of the 2t pump. I have been running premix on my bikes since 2010.
Genuine seals for the pump are hard to come by even though OE engine oil seals are easily available. The accelerator cable will feel lighter as well.
Just lube your clutch cable with oil & run your bike, some times the plates stick. Clutch feels lighter with passage of time then.
I have helped restore couple of 350s for a close friend from Noida. You can always link up with him too.

My bike is running stock CB Points Ignition which needs routine adjustments, say every 2000 kilometres and carbs must also be synced. There is an option to switch to a more advanced CDI (analogue/digital). Once installed the timing won't change which will reduce the hassle but will take away the bike's soul that's what I felt after riding CDI-installed bikes. The bike is pretty much solid otherwise.
Great job on the restoration bro. Bike looks neat. One of the best things you can do for your RS is giving it an ignition update.

I have ridden my RD on points for couple of years before shifting to CDI & never have I felt that the soul of the bike is missing. If anything the sole levels up. A new world opens up.

It does everything better provided you shift to an ignition specifically designed for the 350. Mzb or rdd. Only these two. Otherwise stick to points. Provided those are original.

I’ve tried MZB and it’s good, but I prefer to keep the bike on points. All the ignition components are original, and I have spares for the future as well. I'm not into long distance touring my rides are usually limited to early morning or night runs, around 10 to 20 kilometers at most.
