Jawa Yezdi Motorcycles has introduced the new Jawa 350 in India. The bike is priced at Rs 2,14,950 (ex-showroom, Delhi).



The Jawa 350 is based on a new dual-cradle chassis and features a larger capacity engine, delivering more power and torque. The bike has a long wheelbase and 178 mm of ground clearance. The seat height has been set at 790 mm and the bike weighs 184 kg.



The 334cc single-cylinder engine produces 22 BHP and 28.2 Nm and is paired with a 6-speed gearbox via an assist and slipper clutch. The bike maker claims that the engine delivers improved low-end and mid-range grunt, making the new Jawa 350 better suited for city streets and open roads.



The Jawa 350 rides on 18-inch and 17-inch wheels shod with wider 100/90 section and 130/80 section tyres at the front and rear respectively. The braking setup consists of a 280 mm front and 240 mm rear disc supported by dual-channel ABS.

Did they detune the 334cc mill down to 22 bhp from 30 bhp?

EDIT - Yes - compression ratio is down to 9:1 from 11:1. The P/w ratio is what kept it unique from the new gen enfield and the honda CB 350 mill. This will completely kill the jawa - unless they want to position this as the entry level offering and keep the higher power ones to the 42 2.1/bobber/perak iterations.

Classic Legends has ruined the golden opportunity they had few years back. Had they delivered on a perfect product without niggles and good aftersales many frustrated RE owners could have switched to their brands Jawa & Yezdi. Unfortunately, lot of bad reviews both on products and their service, has led them this path. While they were trying to fix it, RE has Royally invented new products to cater to more customers like Hunter, Himalayan 450, Super Meteor while improving the quality of products.
I feel Classic Legends will shut shop in the near future as many dealerships have been doing (atleast from what I am seeing in BLR).

Thanks for the information. I thought the increase in ground clearance and the styling has improved the overall stature of the bike.

Also, Maybe I am wrong here. I for one was having an assumption or my ignorance that the high compression engine was the result of the clatter that came from the engine and couldn't sense the "beat" in existing version of the 334 cc. I am thinking the lower compression ratio could probably bring in more clarity into the "beat" which probably the masses are expecting. Power decreased to 22bhp should be fine as far as this is thought to be a drag race breed and seeing classic, honda 350 having similar power but the torque is where it matters for these. I also read that the lower and mid grunt is now better tuned for pottering around the streets. When I took the test drive during initial launches, I felt too much heat (could be because of back to back TDs or even the chennai weather) not sure if this lower compression will solve a little bit of this too.

I am still confused what the Jawa-yezdi India division is doing (old name classic legend also changed).

They still are heavily involved in product updates, the new yezdi scrambler and all are heavily updated to a better bike. This classic jawa also might have had a good update.

The problem here is we customers are not knowing what is going to happen from their side. They keep on working on their products and keep improving them. So we should buy this current one or wait again for another new one? Noone can say that.

When i checked with their dealers, they also don't know what is coming or what future models are coming up. All are like waiting for some surprises from their company as well.

What an absolutely gorgeous machine. So unfortunate how M&M made a meal of the Jawa launch and messed up it's prospects.

I think they are missing the age of retro classic motorcycles renaissance that is happening in India. The instrument console looks like 50 years old and also has visibility issues. Hope they have improved on the durability and quality issues.

Its difficult to get into consumer's mind space once you miss it through poor quality products.

With more torque and increased cc of engine, hope it will be a easy going motorcycle with sound also to match. Will we have a review of this here please Love the way it looks

I, for one, think that it's too retro in looks. They should have put in some work to make it look a bit sleeker. At this time, why would anyone choose this over an RE?

Except for the bobber looking thing, I've always thought these new Yezdis looked beautiful. In photos. On the road they look like three-quarters if a bike. Like someone hungry has taken a decent bite out of the backend.

This bike, its color and gold pinstriping, and flare of mudguards and shape, the short flat handlebar, is pure Jawa. Its beautiful. Truly.
