re: Honda NX500 launched at 5.9 lakhs

My only gripe with big bikes in honda is exorbiant ex showroom price and after sales service and parts. I cannot trust a local mechanic with a 7L plus machine.

Apart from the high initial price, the after sales service and parts price are much lower. This is what I gathered from a Honda CBR650 owner.

Can you please elaborate about the the after sales service and parts issue?

The issue is availability, here on team bhp forums itself many people have posted about the lack of spare parts availabilty. Thats one, next the service is only available at honda big wing dealerships which are fairly limited in numbers. All honda big bikes are CBU or CKD so parts are always sourced from abroad. This means high ownership cost if there are any damages.

Congratulations in advance! Any info available on the Extended warranty option?

The sales advisor was not aware of any extended warranty programme. They also rely on Honda portal for such information.

The initial price will soon be discounted just like the other Hondas. Once they realise that their vehicles have very low sales.

This is the case for all high end bikes, as they are either CKD or CBU.

A downside of owning such machines.

Parts availability for the 300 series Honda is something to worry about, but cannot be extrapolated for the CKD or CBU bikes as parts that are not part of regular wear and tear will have a lead time.

I don't think this will be happening this time as Honda is getting them into the country in limited numbers and based on what I am hearing, the bikes are in demand and booked. Apart from the CB500X and Fireblade, I have not seen Honda providing a drastic price cut for their big bikes.

+1 Mostly dealers will be more cautious this time and import units only based on demand or priority bookings than piling up in their showroom expecting more buyers

This bike had lot more potential to find more buyers if priced little lower with some localisation. Doesnt look like Honda management have any such thoughts

Just wondering, what would be the price difference if this brought as CKD unit later compared to current CBU units. Anybody any thoughts?

Yeah true that, personally the horror stories of big bike ownership plus service and parts and the amazing roads we have always deter me from getting big bikes. Last year I got my 390 ADV and CB500X was in contention as well but above reasons made me choose adv.

All of the Bigwing products except the H'ness range has seen drastic price cuts post launch.

CB500X- 1.1L (16%)
CBR 1000 RRR-R - 10L (30%)
CB300F - 64k (28%)
CB300R - 37k (13%)

But I don't think that will happen with the NX500 as it effectively carries forward the original price cut on the CB500X. Unless Honda gets interested in CKD due to high volume of bookings.

If you look at the market inflation over the last two years and the additional improvements on the NX500 over the CB500X- it offers better value than even the stock-clearance price of the old 500X.

Yes, you are correct spare availability was a concern, but the parts that you require for day2day running of the bike is readily available. This week I enquired about some parts and was shocked to hear the price (so low sometimes it’s hard to digest) and it’s also available, rather in Bangalore groups I rarely hear someone has waited for long time to get one part.

The service cost is also very nominal, rather my CBR650R maintenance is about the same as my RE CL350. I guess they have already made such a huge profit during the purchase they care less about these things.

One Eg: last month I have some issue with the ABS light flashing, so I took it to the service station, they opened the front and rear brakes and cleaned the sensor, adjusted the chain, also resolved some noise coming from the fairing and at last the bill was Rs 150/-.

re: Honda NX500 launched at 5.9 lakhs

For all the Bhpians who are interested in some proxy feedback on NX500 from CB500X owners can refer to the following thread. I have enquired about cruising speeds, wind protection and other shortcomings.

https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/motor...1-lakh-10.html (Honda CB500X prices slashed by INR 1.1 lakh).

PS: Mods pls ignore this post if not considered useful.

I don't know enough to answer that. Sorry.

Is best you have the dealer escalate the query to Honda. Maybe they have kitted the bike to be E20 compliant. May just be a sticker change. Besides, if they know E20 is around the corner, the bikes they sell should be made compatible.

Is there a official time line the Government has shared on when E20 starts rolling out?

Corrosion might be the main issue with E20

I recall the old Honda City being E10 compliant. Much before the norm was introduced.

I asked a friends who asked a friend at Honda and he confirmed the company has no plans to bring this to India through CKD route.

And I agree that NX500 carries more value than the discounted CB500x. They're added several features over the CB and still managed to price it the same as the outgoing bike.

re: Honda NX500 launched at 5.9 lakhs

Got to see the bike in person, honestly had not expected it to look this good. Nice proportions & bike has awesome stance. I personally felt Black colored one gives Africa Twin vibes, but that could be just me :-D .. Fit/finish is great & bike is extremely well put together.

Test ride was not available at showroom. I got chance to start the bike, exhaust note is nice but i felt mild buzz on handlebar & seat when revving the bike at around 4k rpm. Maybe the buzz will not be there during while riding as many short reviews available now say this bike is extremely smooth in nature. Test ride will give clear idea. If anyone has taken a longer test ride, please advise on this.

There is no clear picture regarding delivery timelines & most of the dealers are quoting wait time of around 45 to 60 days. After Transalp, NX500 is also an ace product from Honda & hope they will not spoil the party for potential buyers with their uncertain delivery timelines.
