I am yet to see any ASC using torque wrench.

Once, they used regular ratchet to tighten engine casing screws. When asked about the torque wrench, they were very sure the ratchet is the torque wrench.
Similar experience at the RE service centre in Horamavu, my 450's clutch lever was bent near the tip which caused the lever not to be parallel to the handlebar grip, a local mechanic noticed this while installing bark busters and told me this is not normal, I immediately took my bike to the service centre, explained the issue to them even showed other 450's levers being absolutely parallel to the grips, they started blaming that it is because I installed the bark busters, on this particular day some of the RE officials had come for inspection or something even they refused to accept this was a manufacturing defect.

After making me wait, and me constantly explaining to them this is not normal and this was how I received the bike, they reluctantly replaced the clutch lever under warranty.

Please make sure there are no such deformities in your bike.

Re: Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 Review

Guys, some updates for engine noise & the switch gear faults planned by RE detailed out in this video:

Not sure if it will be through re-call or case to case basis only. Have loads of questions, will check with service guys when dropping my bike for 2nd service.

Still no update on this.

But I used to ride a 2021 Classic 350 (J-Series) with stock mirrors prior and they were useless post 80 kmph.
Pricey at Rs.6850/- but I guess we have no choice. Most reviews are also quite good.

Two issues I faced: 1) The ball joints are not good, and kept moving over the slightest speed bump even after tightening them to the maximum. 2) Post 35-40kmph these mirrors shake like a leaf to a point where you can't even recognise the vehicles in the rear view mirror.

Has anyone used the touring mirror from RE? Would love to hear your experience! Here is a picture of my Himalayan with these mirrors.
I picked up these for Rs. 1500/- along with Moto Genius Knuckle guards.
My experience with the mirrors is not good. Having the same issue as you.
The knuckle guard are good but don't look good on the bike.

These 2 are the only 2 non RE accessories on the bike. Guards were bought because there was no alternative and mirrors because the OE ones were pricey.

I have 2 friends who also want the mirrors and knuckle guards so thinking or ordering 3 sets of each and getting a decent discount.

Re: Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 Review

There appear to be 2 types of touring mirrors here.
- First one is the one that's listed on the website and compatible with all the RE models. This is also the one that's seen in all the YT videos.
- The other one is listed as an accessory in the new Himalayan brochure along with the knuckle guards. The only difference appears to be the way Royal Enfield is written. Can anyone confirm?

I have already spoken to the dealer to order a set of the mirrors and knuckle guards for me.

The Moto Genius Knuckle Guards and the Knock Off Double Take mirrors will come off the bike and go on OLX.

Re: Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 Review

I had a friend's Hanle Black Himalayan for a couple days. I rode it in the city and to a hill on the weekend. I'm actually impressed by it now.

My test ride experience wasn't very good. The bike then was very vibey, made bad noises, and didn't feel one bit exciting.

But my friend's bike felt really good. He got a DNA air filter and grip puppies installed along with the O touring seat and other touring accessories. I barely felt any vibrations under 5-6k RPM.

Another point to note is, I had a Honda CB350 Hness when I test rode the Himalayan several months ago. But I ride a gen 3 KTM 390 Duke now. So, maybe I'm used to vibrations now I guess.

Re: Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 Review

Tubeless Spoked Rims for the Royal Enfield Himalayan is here.

From the website:

https://www.royalenfield.com/in/en/m...new-himalayan/

Quote:
Introducing wire-spoked tubeless wheels offering more peace of mind on your adventures. Now available on 21” front and 17” rear wheels with dual sport tyres for a stable, sure-footed feel from both ends.
Owners of the current Himalayan can upgrade to these tyres for Rs 12,424 (including taxes), while new buyers will find this option available throughout the lineup. The pricing for the Himalayan’s wired spoke tubeless begins at Rs 2.96 lakh, and can be checked out from the company's link pasted above.

Good job RE, topped up the cake with even better cherries and whipped cream.

Cheers!

Re: Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 Review

The rally puzzle is nearing completion with the introduction of tubeless spoked wheels. The dual seat, gear lever and mudguard seem to be available too (Source) .

Meanwhile, any news on the final piece of the puzzle - RE/Arrow co-branded exhaust? This was last seen on the rally edition display bikes during launch times.

The exhaust is not planned for India. I remember seeing an interview of RE guys at their ABR festival booth and they said that the exhaust is intended for Europe and US only due to cost considerations.

Re: Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 Review

Needed some advice.

What are the must carry spares for a long ride (3000/4000km)? Also, I'm going to get my 5500 km servicing done before leaving - planning to get the oil changed. What has everyone's experience been with changing/not changing?

If anyone has input on route, that would also help. Posted that query in this thread

Quite odd that the rally cowl comes in White/Black combo. They should have offered it in the 5 colour combinations they are giving the bike in.

I remember watching this video. I understand that it will be expensive but they should have offered it to those who want.

There is a video on Abhinav Bhatt's channel where he has fitted an exhaust he has designed and produced by a Bangalore based company. Should be affordable and looks similar to the Arrow one.

Check out the videos from "On Two Wheels Ben". I think he has covered this topic in detail.

I concur. On a side note, a post appeared yesterday on Bikewale with a teaser of a more upswept rally exhaust around the same rally mudguard.

I agree. I'm going to remove it. Not worth the risk. So the search for better wide angle mirrors continues.

Just curious to know, did you get this replaced? And how is the new one doing? Is the joy stick really a problem across or was it just a one off case?
