Spending 1 lakh extra for just only paint job doesn’t feel worth.
In addition I am selling interceptor 650 at discounted price so loosing there also.
I never like RE classic and this look exactly like that. In motoverse they did not allow us to see properly also, looking at video and expected price I think motoverse edition is too pricey.

And there you have your answer. If you really feel it is not worth the extra 1 lakh or so, don't get it. You will have to forego the 20k but you knew it was a risk when you put that money on the table without seeing or riding the motorcycle.

But if you liked the paint scheme and everything else, do not second guess your choice based on opinions on the internet. It is all subjective, especially when it comes to aesthetics. If you do end up getting the motorcycle, enjoy it to the hilt

You aren't paying just for a paint job.

Here's what you're paying for:

1. Improved fit and finish:
The fit and finish of Super Meteor was much better than the Interceptor. The Shotgun is the next version of an already improved version.

2. Not a top-heavy bike:
The expectation is that the centre of gravity will be lower just like that in the Super Meteor. That instills extra confidence both while riding and while moving the bike at standstill.

3. Better seating position than Super Meteor:
The hope is that with the smaller tank, lowered handlebars, shorter wheelbase and mid-controls, you will face less back pains as compared to Super Meteor riders. Also, the bile will be easier to handle in heavy traffic.

4. Better seating position than the Interceptor:
You already know how painful the Interceptor's stock seat was. This seat should be much much better than that.

5. Exclusivity:
There's going to be only a few of these Motoverse editions sold. These bikes, if maintained well, can fetch a hefty premium on resale down the line. Just see the craze for Continental GT's special editions.

6. Feel good factor:
There's only going to be a few of these on our roads. This guarantees that your feel good factor will remain high.

7. Mod potential:
Within a few months, you should have a plethora of options to mod your bike. That will allow you to personalize it as you want to.

Don't despair; only time can tell whether you got a good deal with the Motoverse version but you do have the above things going for you. Happy riding!

Re: Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 unveiled

Before taking my Speed 400 delivery I took a test ride of Super Meteor 650 as I love the twin cylinder 650cc engine RE has developed. I rode my brother in law’s Interceptor on short rides recently and loved the torquey nature of the engine.

But on the SM650 the footpegs are extremely forward set which is fine for open roads but in traffic that bike is a pain in the behind to handle, with all the extra weight, extended foot movements in start-stop traffic where you have to keep the foot down and then extend it all the way to the front to start riding again plus the low ground clearance and reduced suspension travel meant you feel every pothole in your back. Not even talking about the huge turning radius of the bike. All of that translated into absolutely uncomfortable city ride which was a deal breaker for me as I didn’t want a bike which would only be suitable for long-ish highway drives. I wanted something which could do city as well long drives. Didn’t want to buy interceptor as always have access to one in extended family.

This shotgun seems a better idea than SM just going on the footpeg positions. Overall the bike looks good except a bit unbalanced proportions and weird silencers. Would have loved a scrambler type high silencers on this one. Maybe both exhausts routed from the same side of the bike?! That would make it look amazing with a less heavier tail bumper. Now that would look hot. Please feel free to share your opinion on my view, opposing and agreeing both!

Ride safe.

Re: Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 unveiled

Got a call from RE dealer. Pre-launch on the 15th. There will be 3 levels like the Himmy;

Top End - Stencil White
Mid - Green Drill and Plasma Blue
Low End - Sheet Metal Gray.

Which color looks best to you?

The cheaper the variant, the better the color?
My local dealer said that test rides would start from 20th Jan.

I am really hoping this has a comfortable riding posture.

Re: Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 unveiled

I don't understand why so many reviewers are complaining about the handlebar and peg position on this bike (and their other bikes like himalayan). There is no reason for royal enfield to deliberately release a bike with compromised ergos. This bike here is basically a harley sportster with rearsets (or midset in this case), which is a pretty good niche to cover.

Really nice how international media is talking about these bikes, especially on quality, engine and dynamics.

Here is Neeves from MCN -

On the contrary, I believe you're in a good position right now. From what I've seen I think this will be a success and will eat lots of sales from SM650 and Int650. Yes personally I don't like that colour and the extra money is unreasonable but then you'll probably be able to recover it later if and when you'll sell it. Also, like other bhpians have mentioned, you'll also have some exclusivity factor for you if you like. I mean there's definitely something you had in your mind when you booked it without taking a good look at it. So it's better to buy it now rather than losing 20k for nothing.

Re: Royal Enfield Shotgun 650 unveiled

MotorInc's First is out for the Shotgun.

What I can infer is that it is basically a slightly more comfortable Super Meteor, though not very comfortable in isolation, with a modified rider's triangle.
