Hey guys,
Apologies for a super long post in advance, but I wanted to draw the full picture and not miss context.
I was trying to get a NOC for my Two-wheeler(Access 125 bought in 2019) from our RTO(Gandhinagar) - RTO helpdesk said to file it online, since all such applications are filed online now. I did that, the and documents got verified and everything, but they can't issue an NOC from their end because the system shows there's no Active insurance on my Vehicle.
When I bought it in 2019, I got a 1 year comprehensive + Additional 4 years(total 5 years) Third Party/TP insurance from ICICI Lombard. Over the years, I've been renewing for First Party and Personal Accident Insurance through Policy Bazaar since it was cheaper there, showroom was quoting 3X that. My current active policy is from Liberty Mutual(both for Personal Accident & First Party).
I called Liberty and they mentioned that the active TP policy showing from my vehicle is from Reliance General(which was the first party policy I bought last year) and they need to be the ones updating it with VAHAN. I called Reliance General and they said they don't have any active policies for my Vehicle, and to double check the policy schedule for it. I checked my Policy schedule - it said that the active TP Policy to be from United India Insurance, for some reason(with expiry in 2024), strangely United India is the First Party Policy I bought for the year before that, which also indeed actually expired in 1 year. United India's customer support lines went unanswered.
I dug up the docket that showroom handed me when I bought the vehicle, and in there was the original copy of the ICICI Lombard insurance, so I just decided to give them a call. This is what I see on the VAHAN vehicle details page, btw, no mention of the TP Policy cover that extends till 2024 June.
I called them up, they mention that my Policy doesn't have the vehicle's registration number updated in it - probably because the policy was generated while the vehicle didn't complete the registration(indeed the case, policy schedule doesn't show the Registration number, only Engine number and 5 digits of Chassis) and they were only able to fetch it using the Engine number. So that's why it isn't synced, and I'll need it to be updated first and then they'll be able to update it with VAHAN. This doesn't make sense because the comprehensive policy seems to have synced with VAHAN alright, the TP cover was part of the same policy, it should have shown that as well.
Either ways, I've sent required docs to Lombard for them to update the registration number on the Policy - but that doesn't feel like it'll fix the issue.
Any ideas on how I could get this fixed with the VAHAN database?
