Spied testing: 2025 KTM 390 Adventure

Motorrad Magazine has spied the new KTM 390 Adventure getting tested for a 2025 release.

Source

Unlike the current model - the next generation is likely to be more offroad oriented.

Quote:
It is likely that its drivers will continue to drive it primarily on paved roads, but the new wheel sizes (21 inches at the front, 18 inches at the rear), the coarse tires and the very robust chassis with significantly increased suspension travel already indicate that this Road model can and should also be seriously moved on unpaved surfaces.
Quote:
From a technical point of view , the new LC4c single-cylinder will also form the core here , which recently celebrated its premiere in the new 390 Duke . In the Adventure, the displacement will also be the already known 399 cc and the 45 hp peak output of the Duke sister is also a good guideline. At first glance, its frame is probably taken over from the 390 Duke, but in a slightly revised form. The rear wheel swing arm is a new design, apparently specifically for the Adventure, possibly to take into account the model's more robust design in the future. This also applies to the front fork, which apparently has a lot more travel than before.

This looks a different subframe to me, probably the 'slight revisions' they were talking about. But the footpegs are still far back.

Damn! This looks like I'll have to carry in ladder in my back pocket to climb on.

Note to riding junta. Careful what you wish for. KTM might actually give it to you.

And then sit back and laugh as the howls of protest make Bajaj do an only-Bajaj workaround. And everyone goes home happy and content. Riding a "real" KTM ...

Cheers, Doc

If it looks anything like this on launch, I will be getting one.

THIS is the one I simply can’t wait for.

I really hope they get it right and from the word go, include adjustable suspension, tubeless spoke wheels and of course get the entire chassis set up right for it’s off road aspirations.

I think they will launch them as variants from the get go. The Himalayan will absolutely not let any manufacturer sit around lazy. Globally!

Keeping the front 21inch rim axle as a reference, this seems to have similar gc to the new Himalayan.

People wishing for Dakar style off-road when the first gen 390adv was launched would be happy.

Re: Spied testing: 2025 KTM 390 Adventure

A much needed update for the ADV,

Some observations
1. Different swingarm
2. Visible main stand
3. Suspension looks less compared to the Himi 450
4. 2 pot caliper opposed to the 4 pot caliper
5. Indicators are the latest design, maybe the Duke will get the updated headlight and Indicators in a future mid cycle refresh.

But will wait for the final product and hopefully it retains the 4 pot caliper.

The Himi and this upcoming ADV will be perfect for our interesting Indian roads.

Re: Spied testing: 2025 KTM 390 Adventure

I think a lot of us are getting the dimensions of this motorcycle wrong. It is a TALL motorcycle. It looks more along the lines of a KTM 450 enduro compared to the current model. This spy video gives a better idea about the overall sizing. Absolutely love the 450 Rally inspired styling.

Exactly. It is, finally, a proper Adventure bike. With the performance to match. And knowing KTM, and looking at its pictures, a proper weight too.

Personally, I'm not remotely an ADV sort of guy. But if I was, this bike would be in a short list of one.

Cheers, Doc

What a strange exhaust design. Unless it’s part of the camouflaging effort. I’d expect to see a high-set exhaust that can aid with some decent water wading ability, instead of this super-sports style low exhaust.

Gen 1 Duke 390s with the same exhaust can wade water till the level of the intake (just under the pillion seat subframe on the right) and come out without any issue. Without any throttle or clutch stress either. In fact, can be shut off mid stream, and restarted, and ridden off, without hassle. And its brilliant for the balance of the bike and mass centralisation . Never ever understood or liked the move to one sided exhaust cans for Gen 2, and am delighted that Gen 3 goes back to the underbody exhaust.

Cheers, Doc

Journalist Abhinav Bhatt has shared this image of the 390 ADV being tested in India.
But the version he snapped has a 19" front wheel.

19 inch wheel size might be the right choice considering the Indian people's average height.
